because they are as common as quartz thier really not that rare, and one company has a monopoly on the trade. driving the price of them up. did you know that? well now you know.

It's a status symbol anyway. As I don't believe that the amount you own has an affect on the worth of a person, they don't particularly interest me either.

silver nitrate is black and stains your fingers..it is used in veterinary practice to stop bleeding in dirty non surgical wounds..most commonly when you cut an animals nails and accidently nip its quick and cause bleeding.

I don't know, probably (vulgar) latin. When you have warts, you can buy a stick with silver nitrate and put on it. It's often called lapis.

i have a couple shards of lapis lazuli. beautiful stones, it kind of reminds me of the nite sky on a moonless nite.

My rock collection is quite big, with corundum being what i mostly collect, what a great stone that is, i love it.
