Music without words can stimulate pure emotion. Music with lyrics has a tendency to influence peoples actions. Reminds me of the story of the piper who was able to get all the mice to follow. Also reminds me of snake charmers. I do listen to words with lyrics occasionaly.

I like alternative 'indie' rock, not misogynistic poodle-haired 80s stadium rock.

There's a HUGE difference which not everyone seems to appreciate.

Music with no words mostly. Depends what mood I'm in. The genres I most listen to is Rock + Dance. I can't decide between the 2. This is why I'm not putting my vote in the poll.

Basically Baroque. And I definitely prefer my music without lyrics.

Rock, especially indie. But I like specific songs rather than a genre or a band.

I prefer songs with lyrics, and among those I prefer the ones where each line sounds good on its own and with the surrounding lines (as opposed to songs that tell a story or revolve around an emotion - probably since I probably won't understanf the emotion), even if they're kind of random.

I also enjoy jazz and blues.

Depends on what I am doing and what mood I am in.....

BobDillion,Tom Waits,Peter Case,Susan Vega,Tracy Bonham...etc...when I want to listen to poetry

NIN,Clutch,Marylin Manson,etc...when I want to do some power biking....

Circle Jerks,Dead Kennideys,Stiff little fingers,Scream,Naked Raygun,B*ttholeS,Fear,Feotus,Vandals,
when I am feeling nostalgic or want a laugh...

Portishead...for sex

Bauhaus,Sisters of Mercy...if I want to take a long walk at night

Nothing if I am reading, doing "art"....just destracts me

Rock was the closest option available.

Industrial and a bit of electroclash are my favorites. That's NIN and Miss Kittin, Kraftwerk, Royksopp etc.

Alternative Metal
Alternative Rock
Big Beat
Trance/Trip Hop
Heavy Metal
Club/Dance
Electronica
Hard Rock
House
Punk Rock.

Those are all my favourite genres that classify under Rock and Dance. There.

Well I can't really vote, because I like all those types of music and it won't let me choose more than one.

I probably listen to some form of pop/rock/metal/dance about half the time, but jazz, blues, classical get played everyday. Rap only about 2 or 3 times a week. I actively support 2 different youth church groups that teach kids to play. One is jazz and one is pop rock, I'm the sound guy. I also go to every folk or bluegrass festival within a day's drive. I just love music, especially live music.
