I am surprised at you two, Fnord & ruveyn, and your blatant attempt to take extremist, fundamentalist actions as evidence that Islam as a whole is like that.
It's like being the average Christian and having to be responsible for the actions of the Westbro Baptist church or extremist Christian hate groups.
Did you know there are different sects of Islam just like Christianity? And that certain sect accounts for the most violence?
I have met many Muslims at both a mosque, an Islamic studies apartment, and just walking around my university doing their own thing. I read the Quaran, and it is no-more violent than the New Testament. Heck, when doing Jihad, there is a strong moral code that puts some of our contemporary warfare ethnics to shame.
Do not judge the whole by a part, least your judgement be unfounded.
The violence of the Jihadis is implicit in the Q'ran and the Hadith. There are two kinds of Muslims. Those who have committed violence and those who have not yet committed violence.
There is nothing in either the Q'ran or Haidth that would impel a Muslim to forswear violence.
In addition to violence the Islam promotes hatred of Jews. I do not take kindly to having a target painted on my pink Jewish a**.

ruveyn may have a legitimate point.
The Jewish and Christian Religious texts are more laid out as a historical text would be. The Jewish and Christian Religious Texts, do not condone going out and attacking people in an attempt to conquer everything. Yeah their is violence, however it was a violent time period. That said, if a nonJewish nation had a treaty with Israel, and was abiding by the treaty; it would be considered wrong to break their end of an agreement and/or try to attack said nation. Jews and Christians are supposed to be men/women that keep their word, regardless of the fact it isn't to someone of their religion (I'm talking ideally). Whereas in Islam it is okay to lie to infidels.
