I'm new to the site, and hope to get some helpful information about Asperger's syndrome. I'm 41 and a male living in Asheville, North Carolina. I was diagnosed with Asperger's at the Menninger Clinic when I was 33 years old. I've struggle most of my life with Asperger's never knowing I had it. Grade school was terrifying, and none of my teachers knew what was wrong with me. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S.W. degree. College was difficult, but I seemed to fit in better than I did in grade school. I never went to high school because I dropped out in junior high and earned by G.E.D. In my twenties I was diagnosed with ADHD and other problems. Then I was put on a huge amount of different medications that about killed me. Luckily I was able to get away from those medications and crazy doctor from Nashville. I'm now a fitness freak, and eat very healthy foods and have found that a healthy life style helps my Asperger's syndrome. I have never been able to hold down a job very long. I'm just wondering if anybody has some suggestions. I feel a lot of my problems with dealing with Asperger's has been that I was diagnosed late in life, and have never received proper help.
