Every single day for the last 6 years has been pure hell to my senses (especially my auditory). I go to school, and it's a wild wind of noise. Thousands of conversations going on at once, it makes my head explode. I can't take it anymore. I don't want to go home every night with overload. I hate it when I'm in a mean mood because of it. I even snapped at my own mother, who does nothing but provide for me whatever I need.

I'm thinking about switching to online school.

Yeah, I hated it when I got auditory sensory overload during the school day. Sometimes I felt like screaming, "SHUT THE HELL UP!! !" as loudly as possible down the hallway (though I never did). Can you leave the school campus during lunch so you can be by yourself and recharge? Do you have any friends you can talk to about this? Take classes with the least amount of noise/fewest amount of students? Do whatever it takes not to have a meltdown due to sensory overload. Believe me, it will save you from humiliating embarassment.

I can't leave the school campus unless I'm a junior. Our school has faced budget cuts and larger classrooms, so there are about 45 students to a class. The only thing I can rely on is my 504, and even that doesn't work sometimes.

Wait, you only have a 504? Are you eligible for an IEP? A 504 is nothing compared to an IEP. If you are eligible for an IEP, you could get into a really small class (10-15 students). It might be special ed, but it beats those huge classes.

I do have an IEP, it's just inactive this year.

You aren't in honors/AP classes, are you? It makes a huge difference.

You can always tell your mentor that you can`t stand the noise in the class. Maybe he can work something out. Like allowing you to wear ear-buds or listen to your MP3 in class.

Also if can`t stand it anymore, ask for permission to go to the toilet. Since the toilets are usually quiet. (Also, its called RESTroom for a reason, right?)

I agree with being in honors and AP classes; the people there generally aren't as loud and crazy because they actually care about school (not that all people who aren't in them don't care about school; just most people not in them don't care about school). Also, WHY IS YOUR IEP INACTIVE??! ! Why would they do that? You should get it reactivated so you can get better support. Also, if it's not too late you should skip a grade, so you can get out of high school earlier.

I remember high school and middle school; it was awful. But I want you to know that college is MUCH better. I love it--there's great services for people with disabilities, there's clubs, and the work is actually interesting! Just make sure you stick with a bigger university and don't go to Agnes Scott; Agnes Scott enrolls girls with disabilities so it can get grant money, and then at the first sign of the girls actually needing support, they put them in a mental institution and tell them they can either stay away from the college for six months (during which time they lose all opportunity to sue) or leave forever. After the six months, they finalize kicking them out. I know this because they did this to my friend. They lied in the records, too.

A bigger university, especially a state university, would never be able to get away with that. My school is a state university and it gives me great accommadations.

...anyway, it gets better! Sorry if I made you anxious! :D

I am in honors classes, and they are full of freshman over-achievers. And most freshman boys and girls are extremely loud. They've given me a quiet room to work in until they can work something out with the state.

Freshman: that's your problem. The most annoying people I've ever known were either in middle school or were my freshman/sophomore peers. In terms of annoyances, college is actually much better. All you have to do is leave class, and nobody cares where you're going or why. In high school, getting some quiet time is nearly impossible, especially without breaking rules. I had to go to my car to eat lunch this afternoon because that's the only place I can get away. It was great to be able to relax for 30 minutes, but if someone caught me I'd probably get at least a day of in school suspension for leaving school property without permission. I've already been harassed enough for going to the bathroom during class and arriving to class too early.

Bad idea imo,

You`ll need social experience, even if you don`t like to socialize. School is one of the biggest sources of social experience. Try to develop your social skills. It will make finding work later on easier, even going to the shop or something will be a lot easier.

Leaving high school has more consequences then you think.

This didn't really apply for me, as I only miss one year of education at school out of 19 years (I read my post again and I saw I didn't specify that I only left high school for the last year). I do understand that if somebody is homeschooled from kindergarten to high school that he/she won't have any social skills at all and will most likely have trouble with that later in life. But my social skills were fine, actually quite good compared to what I read about others on this forum. Also for me it wasn't about not liking socializing, I left because I was properly messed up (stopped eating, not sleeping for three nights straight etc) from going to school.
Back to the OP...MakaylaTheAspie is 15 years old, she won't learn any new social skills that she hadn't already learnt from going to school, so that shouldn't be the problem. The name of the topic isn't "I hate school" it's "I can't take it anymore". If that's really the case, my advice is to seriously consider studying at home.
School ruined my childhood, leaving it was the best idea I ever had.

This is the reason why I sometimes leave during lunch or in my free period, it becomes too much.

Most homeschooling parents are concerned about socialization, so if there is a strong homeschooling community in your area, you can find groups where you might take classes 1-3 days a week with other students but do the rest of the work online at home.

What would your parents think of the online or homeschooling options?
