House clearly has autism; Cuddy is stupid for not realizing this.

I felt the same way -- House has always seemed like someone with Aspergers. I was surprised that they decided to say that he DIDN'T have it -- I think it would have made him a much more interesting character, and would have provided more interesting future plot lines.

I think Wilson only told House he didn't have it because House has a tendency to lean on things, and he didn't want House to use it like he "uses" vicodin.

They did a nice job with the kid, glad to see they didn't have him killing the family pet or something, which is more typical of a tv representation.

I also found the "circle" conversation, where House ultimately states that he feels the kid is the lucky one, to be fabulous.

I definitely agree -- I thought that "circle" conversation was really well done.

I bet you're right about Wilson not wanting House to "use" Asperger's as something to lean on. I hadn't thought of it that way.

The thing I love so much about House, and one of the many reasons I think he's somewhat Aspie, is that he's such a bright guy, and even when he's insulting, he's saying stuff that the more obnoxious of us (me included) wish we could say out loud, but couldn't formulate what to say as intellectually. I think that NT's actually admire the way some Aspie's feel no shame in saying the absolute truth. The reasoning House had about the full-fledged autistic kid "not having to pretend" when he's annoyed by something, etc., was really hitting the nail on the head.

I also liked the part where they had to give the kid some "gas" to make him go under, and the kid wouldn't do it, but House did it himself, and THEN the kid took the "gas." That was classic stuff, but moreso because afterwards, House also was affected by the stuff and ended up running into the wall. So hilarious!

My son and I have a standing "date" on Wednesday nights - to watch "Criminal Minds".

Ever since he found out Dr. Reid is an aspie (the official website describes him as having a social IQ as low as his intellectual IQ is high - a bit trivialized but good enough for the general public) he's loved the show. It finally gave him a positive role model, and "proof" to him that he really could be anything he wants (Dr. Reid is an FBI profiler).

Reid has his foibles, many of which are aspie related, but he's great at what he does and the writers manage to show his out of the box thinking from time to time.

House has to be an aspie, especially since the last episode. I got so excited. I think the other doctors say he doesnt have it because they would feel stupid about giving him respect, as in if he had it they think he doesnt deserve respect.

And all the people who dont think he has it are niave NT's, I have read on someother forums. They dont understand that you dont have to be a textbook case to have it. Asperger's itself is a spectrum, and there is thousands of varieties in symptoms you can have. And that every aspie is different.

Like someone said he couldnt have it because he was good at reading people and manipulating. OK, I have it boarderline and I love to lie and manipulate, thats what i do best., and im good at it.
And aslo they saiud he didnt have it because he was being rude on purpose. Yeah, aspies are capable of doing that. I do it all the time.

There is just so much similarities between him and asperger's, sure he would be a very mild case and he doesnt have every symptom, but you dont have to. Like example, Albert Einstien and Bill Gates, they both have asperger's but are very different, they are their own beings. And for all intensive purposes lets say House has it too, then thats another big difference. And me, another huge difference... Catch my drift?

Also in the episode Cameron kept trying to say it to House but she kept being intrupted. And at the very end he was using the "Happiness scale" that thearapists try to get aspie kids to use. For me that was the clincher in my opinion. But I always had my suspicions.

He is also very perfectionist, remember what he acted like when he thought he failed the case? I dont know how the other doctors would have reacted though to the same situation.

And I dont think something like asperger's would only be metioned once, I think they are going to play with it throughout the season. What do you guys think?

BEST PART:
"YOU CANT STOP OUR LOVE!!"

I was about to make a post on this but I saw someone beat me to it. I watched this episode last night and I wasn't surprised when they mentioend about House having it because I had heard people saying he has it on this froum and on aspies for freedom but I never thought of him having it because he seems a normal guy to me. I didn't see anything different about him. Then this other doctor says to him 'You're not autistic. You don't even have aspergers.' So could that mean he has PDD-NOS since he didn't meet enough for the criteria of AS. But it did make me feel funny because I have it even though I don't quite have it myself so maybe I'm borerline of it instead. I have heard of borerline AS on here so I'm assuming it means someone is diagnosed with AS but they don't quite have enough for the criteria but were given the diagnoses anyway. now I'm not even sure if I truely have it or not from what my mother finally told me. She told me If I didn't have hearing loss, I might have still developed delay language anyway but none of the doctors were sure. Sometimes I feel I am more HFA than AS so no wonder my psychiatrist wrote I am betwen AS and autism. My mother also told me I meet up to 8 on the AS criteria when I am stressed but most of the times I only have five. Then I have read at one of my doctor's appointment on a paper about me that I have been diagnosed as having AS even though I didn't quite meet the criteria. I don't know if that was an error or not ebcause when I look at the criteria, I see myself alright but there is that page on me that i didn't quite meet it. Confusing eh?

I'm glad no one was offended by the House episode.

That seems a little bit strange, but everyone sometimes obsesses over their own disabilities.

Another possibility, is that he exhibits traits very AS like, but the writters just decided that they didn't want the character to have it.

Also, I wish I had seen that.

AHH! The ONE time I miss House!! I just knew when I saw the previews it was going to be about autism, for some reason. I seem to see Autism everywhere I turn nowadays. It's rather odd.. like it's just exploded or something. On tv, in magazines..etc.. Scary.. Perhaps it will change people's view on it though.
