even though I'm nearly 40 years old and I have a daughter who is nearly 20, when I'm with other people (even men) who are my age I always feel like I'm the youngest, even when I'm at college with people much younger than me I still feel younger. It's like I'm still playful, sometimes this can be a good thing but it depends on who's company I'm in.

I don't feel younger social-wise. I just feel stupider, intellectually-wise.

Yes, I often feel like the youngest of an age peer group.

I'm the opposite, I feel like a 70 year old when i'm 20.

I'm just so boring compared to people my age. While all my friends are drinking and partying, i'm at home learning.

My friends watch lame comedies and random TV series, while i watch documentaries.

My friends talk about girls, sex, jokes, etc. I prefer talking about politics, religion, physics, etc

:( !

Maturity isn't as simple as immature/mature. In some ways we are more mature, in other ways we are childish.

I have the same thing. I don't feel less mature than people, I just feel like the youngest, even if they're 10 years younger than me.

Does this have anything to do with physical appearance? Aspies tend to look physically younger.

My mom always says that it's common to feel like "one of the kids" at any age...she didn't feel like an adult until she had me.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

I read somewhere that a lot of Aspies tend to enjoy things that are usually considered 'kiddish things'. For example, Spongebob. They'll like to watch it, and will wear clothing depicting the different cartoon/child-based things. I'm very guilty about this. I wear shirts with Domo, Spongebob, and other things like that. People would comment on how it seemed childish for a 23 year old girl to do this. But, I find I enjoy wearing/seeing things like that I can relate to, or rather like, than some random print, or a shirt cut in a 'cute' way that feels physically odd to wear to me.
