Hi, I'm Samuel Kupa. I'm in the 12th grade at EWG and need some help with my senior project. Since I have
Asperger's Syndorme, I decided that I'm doing a little animation project on Aspergers to educate children
and adults who don't know much about it. Anyone interested in participating, please respond. It's going to be
an animated PSA so that not only could it catch a younger audience's attention, but also teach people that
everyone is unique despite what stereotypes are adhered to one's group. Like I said before, it's going to
be animated and the part I want you to play is to be interviewed to show the huge scope of
different, unique, individual mind-sets that people with this disorder have. If you have drawing talents,
you can create your own character and send it to me so I can animate it for the project. If you don't want to,
please give me some ideas of what you want your character to look like. Also, please give me names for
your characters. You can even use your own name. But if you want to stay anonymous, I understand.

Here are some interview questions I have came up with:

1.What do you think when you think of yourself having Aspergers?

2.What is your most favorite subject?

3.Do you ever daydream when you listen to music?

4.Can you tolerate loud, sharp noises?

5.What do you do when you get embarresed in front of your friends?

6.If you have a crush, how do you react when she/he talks to you?

7.Do you ever pre-think things to say in awkward conversations, but immediatley forget because you're too nervous?

8.How would you react if you were told to do something that you had to get done, but really didn't want to?

9.When people laugh at something you don't understand, how do you react?

10.Why is eye contact so difficult with newer people?

11.Did you enjoy the interview?

12.Do you have any questions you'd like to ask yourself?

Thank you for taking your time reading this. I am looking forward to your responses. :)

I think of myself as being different, being confused and misunderstood.

2.What is your most favorite subject?

Chemistry, Statistics

3.Do you ever daydream when you listen to music?

Oh all the time. Music takes me away, it takes me into a different world a realm of imagination.

4.Can you tolerate loud, sharp noises?

No, I hate alarms, ticking noises, beeps, squeaks, motorcycles, lawn mowers. Anything loud and annoying, often sounds of machinery.

5.What do you do when you get embarresed in front of your friends?

Now...I learned just to play if off as a joke before, I used to react not so well. Perhaps walk out, get mad, or recoil.

6.If you have a crush, how do you react when she/he talks to you?

I normally crush on people I already know so I want to talk to them. I try to get there attention and I try to hard to be there friend.

7.Do you ever pre-think things to say in awkward conversations, but immediatley forget because you're too nervous?

I try not to pre-think in the 1st place due to that very reason

8.How would you react if you were told to do something that you had to get done, but really didn't want to?

I would just do it anyways and secretly complain and grunt in my head.

9.When people laugh at something you don't understand, how do you react?

That hasnt happened in a while. I'll sit there very confused and not laugh, ill feel left out. Now I know there's a subtle social timing when there's a joke so I typically just go along with it. I get humor now.

10.Why is eye contact so difficult with newer people?

It isnt anymore. Before, it was very awkward and intimidating.

11.Did you enjoy the interview?
12.Do you have any questions you'd like to ask yourself?

1.What do you think when you think of yourself having Aspergers?

I dont know yet. I'm very recenlty diagnosed as a 20 year old.

2.What is your most favorite subject?

Psychology.

3.Do you ever daydream when you listen to music?

No, and I never listen to music just as a primary activity.

4.Can you tolerate loud, sharp noises?

Yes, but I don't like it.

5.What do you do when you get embarresed in front of your friends?

What friends?

6.If you have a crush, how do you react when she/he talks to you?

Embaressed I suppose.

7.Do you ever pre-think things to say in awkward conversations, but immediatley forget because you're too nervous?

All the time. But I try not to care to much to anymore, since I figure I will come off as a little odd anyway.

8.How would you react if you were told to do something that you had to get done, but really didn't want to?

I feel you have all ready answered the question. If i had to get it done, I would have done it.

9.When people laugh at something you don't understand, how do you react?

Depends what the context is. I might ignore it, just smile or find them stupid.

10.Why is eye contact so difficult with newer people?

I guess because I don't like most people?

11.Did you enjoy the interview?

Yes.

12.Do you have any questions you'd like to ask yourself?

Yes: 13: Do you think your childhood might have been better if you were diagnosed as a child? - Yes. People with autism spectrum disorder are at risk for several psychological disorders, the main reason probably is the increased stress. The stress expierenced is probably much higher for those individuals who does not know, growing up, why they are diffrent/odd etc. As a result I've had major depressive disorder and social anxity.

Thank you for taking your time reading this. I am looking forward to your responses. :)[/quote]

I am not dx AS, I'll know next Monday. I can answer a few of your questions just from my perspective though. :)

SamKupa wrote:
3.Do you ever daydream when you listen to music?

Yes, always.

SamKupa wrote:
4.Can you tolerate loud, sharp noises?

Nope. I jump and scream and used to flap my hands.

SamKupa wrote:
5.What do you do when you get embarresed in front of your friends?

Now I usually just laugh because I know that's what I'm supposed to do to dissipate the problem. Before I knew this, I would usually just shut down, sometimes the room would go dark and I would just be non responsive.

7.Do you ever pre-think things to say in awkward conversations, but immediatley forget because you're too nervous?

Yes, every time. I write it down often so I don't forget.

SamKupa wrote:
9.When people laugh at something you don't understand, how do you react?

Depends. Really good friends, I'll say "I don't get it" so someone will explain. Most of the time, I just laugh and pretend to get it.

SamKupa wrote:

Too intimate. It makes me feel like I'm staring into train headlights.

You guys are the best. :D Thank you for answering my questions. Now I should be able to get a pretty decent grade on my Senior Project. I have Aspergers myself, but I didn't think that my perspective would be enough just to show what I am trying to convey. I apologize if I did something wrong with the post. I am really new to this website and have really never been on forum sites before. Once again, Thank you and I am glad that you've responded. :D
