His threads seem to be very sensible.

The basic underlying premise to his posts are...

"Autism is a problem and I want it to be cured."

What's wrong with that? You guys are blind if you think that autism doesn't affect your ability to get along with others and affect your ability to achieve various goals that are IMPORTANT in life, such as with careers and relationships. You guys are seriously living in LA LA land if you believe "everything is alright.".

Personally I don't think I've replyed to any of his posts, but click the above link and check out his posts. Personally it does seem like troll behaviour, but I don't have a PHD in trololology. I might not have a super IQ, but I do realise if I reply to all of your posts with a witty one liner, you'd be quick to discard pretty much every post I've made.

Oh, jeez, I guess this must be my autism shining through. I tend to react to posts post-by-post, and not treat certain posts differently just because of the user. I treat content as something that "stands alone" and react accordingly.

Don't care about getting along with others (though I do fine anyway) or relationships, and my asperger's is not the primary factor that can potentially hold me back career-wise. I love how people who think that their autism is a problem tend to presume that those of us that don't are in denial.

And there's nothing wrong with wanting one's own autism to be cured. It's once one decides that autism as a whole should be "cured" that one oversteps.

You seem to have a pretty good theory of mind for someone with aspergers, so I'm guessing your asperger's severity is pretty light. This, and its affects on your daily functioning (or relative lack thereof), could explain why you're not bothered by it.

So, you're right. If your aspergers actually doesn't affect you because it doesn't disable you at all, then it's not really denial by saying you don't have a problem with it if it doesn't cause you any *real* problems to begin with, because it's not severe in your case.

I wasn't aware he held that view. His latest thread seemed to be about finding treatments, not necessarily about forcing everyone to use said treatments.

This.

Though from what I've read of his posts and the responses to them, I've not seen anyone picking on him, just disagreeing with him.

People have been calling him a troll, mocking him and being derisively sarcastic. That's what we call "picking on people".

Hello there.

I'll be upfront; I was one of those who called troll on him. Who wouldn't, considering the posts that he made? I'll let you read a topic that he started.

People with autism have problem with change.

The title sounds innocuous, but read carefully, and his replies surely irked many members and raised eyebrows.

1. "You goes don't seem like a aspies" "Are you guys on drugs?" Not exactly friendly posting.

2. I find it highly presumtuous to evaluate someone's degree of autism based on a few sentences on an online forum. I'm frequently told how typical I seem when I type. This does NOT mean that I'm not autistic.

I have no clue what brought this thread on, but I personally find this particular thread inappropriate. These are the types of threads that almost always turn into flame wars. They're a bad idea.

I hope the mods are watching this one very closely.

Be prepared for it to be locked rather quickly.

That's all I've got to say about this.

Actually, I feel really bad for responding the way I did to his threads. I read his first posts, he's actually diagnosed autistic, and he's probably much more than like the HFA "I'm a little weird" on this messageboard. So everyone, just please be kind and patient with him.

Also, I have a feeling he could be from Europe, and English might not be his first language. That, and in my opinion, due to the way European society is, Aspergers is diagnosed less, so only the really serious cases would get diagnosis, whereas America if you're just slightly "off" you'll get your AS diagnosis no problem.

So just please be kind to him, that's all.

If there was something I could do to change some of my AS that hinders me, I would certainly do it. But that's just me. It's like anything else, it's up to the individual to decide what is best for them.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything that can change my little quirks and obsessions and overreactions and such. So I live with them. I lived with them for 40 something years before I was even diagnosed and thought it was just me. Just my little eccentricities and quirks, just like everybody has their own. Now I know what it is. If there was something to fix it, I'd do it. But it's not that big a deal to me. I live a normal life and am fairly happy with it, so I don't worry about it.

I called troll on him because he's displaying typical troll behavior. I diagnosed him based on a series of criteria which he met.

1. Posts are one liners, never any detail given.
2. Posts are always on controversial subjects with no personal information, just debate-starting subjects.
3. Rapid and numerous posts when previously an unheard from entity.
4. Responses to negative criticism were atypical; i.e., instead of defending his position, he reverted back to 1 and 2, one line posts with no detail only on controversial subjects.

All in all, it gives the sense of someone who is throwing meat to wild dogs to watch them fight (each other or him) and enjoy the spectacle. I.E., a troll.

If he's not a troll, he is disguised as one. And anyone can click the "diagnosed with Autism" box in their forum profile, that's not hard.

I may hace been a bit sarcastic in onw of his threads, but never offended him. And for him to say that some of us aren't Aspies wasn't very thoughtful.
