I'm pretty sure we've all read books with characters we identify with. Sometimes this might be from slightly aspie relevant traits for me, and there are book and movie characters out there who show some Aspergers symptoms. For example: after reading Sherlock Holms, I noticed he practically screamed aspie. So I was wondering if anyone else had a character, and if so who. Here's mine:
Victor Frankenstein- And when I say this I don't mean any of the billion movies based of the book warping the original plot. I'm talking about the original Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley. When I read the book, I'd been recently diagnosed with Aspergers and learning about all the symptoms, only find how much I identified with Victor. Victor Frankenstein is born into a good supportive family but only has about two friends. He doesn't have much of a social life, and is very dreamy about science and reads books by ancient, outdated, and kind of philosophical musings. When everyone else is out socializing he prefers to pursue his passion, quote "the workings of the world." When he goes off to college he has an idea on how to animate a body, and becomes all consumed by this obsession, dropping out of human society basically and only thinking of and working on his strange passion (definitely obscure, he's sewing together body parts). He is unable to show any empathy and leaves his monster to fend for itself at first. He doesn't communicate very well with his creation on their needs and wants and understanding of each other. From then on he goes into depression that reminds me of myself. Now looking back, all my identifications with Victor were aspie-ish. Anyone else got an identified with character, with or with out Aspergers?
