I am the mother of a wonderful 16 year old son with Asperger's. I think that I have many Asperger's traits myself, but when I was growing up, it was unheard of. I was just the nerdy kid that talked too much. :lol:

I told my son about this site the other day. I hope that he will join in as well. I am looking forward to interacting with others and perhaps gaining some new insight into this condition.

Ignore him, he is a l33tspeaker with a fictional oedipal complex and a hemophagy problem.

Hope that your son does well in life. I only got diagnosed at about 16 myself....

I'm impressed that you appreciate your son, and that you're supporting him and seeking to learn how to be a better parent. No perfect parent has ever existed except on old TV shows. There's quite a few young people active on this site who are around your son's age. So welcome.

Thanks for the great welcomes! My son was misdiagnosed for the first 12 years of his life. I recognised the links with autism, but appearently the "experts" didn't. Personaly, I think that he is doing great.

Hmmmm...now about that garlic. That just might interfere with my current onion-worship. Combined, it might just turn into one very stinky beleif.

They weren't smart enough to surrender like werbert did when his Church of Mustard was fighting us. During that war the Ranch and Wasabi religions were also destroyed. Then the Rubber Ducks attacked us, but now they're our allies.

Hi Celeste and welcome.
Like you my route to awareness of my AS was as a result of my two youngest sons being diagnosed with ASD. I also have 3 grown up children and I am sure the two older boys are also AS (but not their sister). As you say their and my situations were all prior to the availability of diagnosis.
I have always found life difficult - now finally I am getting to understand why.
Anyway once again - welcome.
