I actually came across this in a old issue of Time whilst hanging out in the psych ward-- It's what prompted me to actually get the damn diagnosis.

I don't know whether to be pleased, interested, or frightened.

I guess the answer depends on what finding and treating more individuals with ASDs is going to mean...

From the likes of AutSpeaks (or human society, for that matter) I somehow don't imagine it will involve everyone learning greater tolerance for diversity. I'm thinking more of the eugenics programs in the early 20th century here in the US...

I'd like to be wrong.

In other thoughts, I want one of those T-shirts the kids are wearing in that pic...

I think a lot of people that are considered to have Asperger's don't really have it.

So, what?? We've come to the point of simply needing to officially pathologize seeing and/or reacting to things differently than the majority??

That's even more discouraging...

In other thoughts...

Hey, if rats can have empathy, maybe Homo sapiens can learn it!!

If NTs are crediting rats with empathy, can recognizing us as equally valid be far behind???

Nope.avi.

I think people have Aspergers even if they don't.

If they're displaying traits they need help.
