Why is our childlike behaviour always a bad thing?

I mean sure I do have the naive traits of a typical aspie, but don't let that fool you. I am a languages student, have a job, and pay rent. I am a reponsible person!

Is anyone else kind of offended that NT's or other people in general will discredit your ability to function as an adult?

Some find it funny, some find it cute, other find it strange and others just laugh (in a mean way).
But what is annoying is that it seems no body takes you seriously...

Yes, it pisses me off, too! I have a right to be able to be myself, but when I exercize that right, most people think I'm unintellegent and don't take me seriously! Why do they think I'm seventeen and in college? The people who get to know me aren't so bad, but a lot of times people still don't take me seriously.

Yeah, it is annoying. I mean, when I was working it was terrible at first.. I was so confused and it was totally understandable of others to think of me that way. I was lucky, however, that my mentor had a son who has ASD so she helped me a lot.
After a year or so, when I figured how to work and my results became outstanding, I still get the same treatment. It could mean that it's unlikely I will be promoted to a workplace that has more responsibilities.

You should explain to them that you have outstanding results and they should take you seriously. You could even claim discrimination if someone less qualified gets promoted but you don't.

They way the world is going, it may end up be a saving grace.

The current "non naive" system is headed for the rocks.

Our "naivete" is simply an older more profound grasp on what matters when one age gives way to another.

According to my shrink in high school, I was not taken seriously. Kids thought I was cute and laugh at things I say. I am probably still not taken seriously since I still make people laugh.


I have pissed people off with me not getting things or people targeting me. Also kids and teachers acted like I was incapable when I was in high school. Then I remember kids acting surprised when they saw me driving. Kids used to tell me I almost ran them over or nearly hit their car and mom told me they have no idea what they are talking about because they don't know what 'almost' means and their perception is off.
