This is a thread to post songs (youtube vids, lyrics, segments of lyrics, etc) which you feel are representative of your experience with bipolar.

I'll start.

Too much time to get lost in the maze
Tell me, isn't that strange
You bleed to get there, you were ready
To be a bird in a golden cage

Sweat is breaking on my brow
Where's the freak to ease my pain?
Room is dark and big and empty
Silence driving me insane

Night has fallen, demons laughing
Waiting for the light of day
Here's the land of milk and honey
There you've got the price to pay

Searching for shelter
Riding the pendulum to paradise
As I'm reaching higher - what a pure desire
I'm swinging back towards the edge

Isn't Fiona Apple on that spectrum?

I know this may not at first glance seem directly relevant to bipolar - but I really strongly associated with this song because it feels symbolic of the constant war going on inside me, and the battle between myself and my alter-ego (my manic self). The person singing the song and the girl fighting could be directly representative of my internal manic self - powerful, intoxicating, and deadly.

Can you hear me? You've lost and I control you.

I'm pretty sure that Lithium by Nirvana is a song about Bipolar.

These are my fav two right now but I have lots. I feel that on a personal level I can relate to these songs towards my BP symptoms. There really are a lot of good songs out there to relate to when it comes to this sort of thing. It wouldn't surprise me if a decent amount of the talented musicians I listen to suffer from a spectrum of mental health problems. Some have mentioned it in televised interviews. I also go to to a lot of concerts and have met some in person and most are pretty unique people. Some you can tell have been through life changing hardships. One or two came off as possibly having ASDs and another flat out brought up his ADHD to me.

I'm one west of C
I've made an obstacle course out of me
And when my laundry is through
I will tumble
With you

And when my laundry is through I will tumble
And when my laundry is through I will tumble
With you

Prescribe me alive
Make me a fraction that's lonely and divided as
I watch the chase from the back seat
Kiss and ride
Hold me in your arms till I fall asleep
Sleep

Neurochemical warfare gas masquerade
Neurochemical warfare gas masquerade
Psychological warfare ass backwards maze
Like an objective source that's too right to change

And when my laundry is through I will tumble
And when my laundry is through I will tumble
With you

I spy with my little eye something that's a lie
I spy with my little eye something that's a lie
I spy with my little eye something

Neurochemical warfare gas masquerade
Neurochemical warfare gas masquerade
Psychological warfare ass backwards maze
Like an objective source that's too right to change

And when my laundry is through I will tumble
And when my laundry is through I will tumble
With you

Sometimes life it takes you by the hair.
It pulls you down before you know it
It’s gone and you’re dead again.
I’ve been in places and I won’t pretend
Yeah, I'd make it out just to fall on my head

Wake up strange and take the walk downstairs
Hit the pawn up on the corner and pay for my rent
You know that I could not believe my own truth
Just show them what I choose, got nothing to lose

Yeah yeah and it’s O.K.
I tie my hands up to a chair so I don’t fall that way.
Yeah yeah and I’m alright.
I took a sip of something poison but I’ll hold on tight.

You know those days when you want to just choose
To not get out of bed, you're lost in your head again.
You play the game but you kind of cut
’Cause you’re coming down hard and your joints are all stuck.
I've tried to say that’s not the only way
I never knew if I could face myself to change.
You were pacing I was insecure.
Slip and fall, I'm dodging calls, hug the prison I've been living in.

Yeah yeah and it’s O.K.
I tie my hands up to a chair so I don’t fall that way.
Yeah yeah and I’m alright.
I took a sip of something poison but I’ll hold on tight.

Blind melon's Hell

http://youtu.be/a3vqw63c-x8

I have no fingertips
They were burned away from too many stove trips
Can't find no fingernails
I ate them off cause I was hungry as hell
Can't read, can't clear my mind
So here I go I've got to get into this lifetime
I think I'm gonna build a fence
To keep inside what little sense
The sense of taste
The sense of smell
The sense to sit here and feel like hell
To feel like hell

The sun, the moon, the stars
Is that what you're thinking that you are
As I'll disintegrate over time
If I expect my Body to try and keep up with my mind
Today everything's mine
Today everything's mine
Today everything's mine
