What does it actually mean to "know" a person? I mean, you can know a fact, but how is it possible to know a human being? The way I see it, people are almost infinitely complex.

Historically, I haven't had many friends other than my family. When it comes to my parents and siblings, I sometimes know things about them that even they haven't fully accepted.

Do you "know" someone when you've come to associate their face with a particular place?
Do you "know" someone when you can reliably remember their face and call them by name?
Is it when you know some basic information about their life?
When you're good friends?
When you're best friends?

It was two Buddhist monks who were walking across a bridge when one stopped and looked over and said "I wish I was a fish, they're so happy!" the other turned to the one monk and said "How do you know fish are happy? You're not a fish!" The monk replied "How do you know what I know? You're not me!"

I assume I know people. That is apart of our egos.

I would assume I know someone when I've become "great" friends with them. However if someone asks you "Do you know X?" I would just say "yes". Because they are asking you if you're aware of their existence, and if they're apart of your life in some way.
