I really like anime, and I enjoy watching films on autism, but I would really like to see an anime about autism, if such thing exists. If there is one, could you inform me? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. :)

Hmm, you would find it hard to get much series that would officially have it. L from Death Note is often considered to have AS, Osaka from Azumanga Daioh is often considered the same. Series with more than a character are harder, although I did watch a series called Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (I don't have many friends) recently of which the characters all have social problems with making friends.

Does anyone remember the child in Ergo Proxy? I remember there was something strange about her but I can't remember if it looked like autism or not.

Autism's not really a main feature in anime... you might find an autistic MC in certain harem-style hentai though.

Not that I'm aware of, but there's quite a good manga about a mom with an autistic child.

Would but that I could remember the name.

Not an anime, but there is a manga about an autistic boy and his mother as he grows up called With the Light. Other disabilities also make an appearance including dyslexia, ADHD, and Asperger's among them.

I know the protaganist of Welcome to the N.H.K. doesn´t really seem autistic, but it deals with problems that at least I myself have had to deal with because of my condition - he is a university drop-out who´s constantly feeling like a failure, has given up hope of getting a job, avoids contact with other people, lives as a shut-in in a cramped apartment that hasn´t been cleaned in ages, starts to become delusional and paranoid.
The author manages to portray this despair insightfully (apparantly he´s been a shut-in/hikikomori too in real life) and at the same time put a big dose of comedy into it.
As I remember it was rather good. Haven´t seen it in five years and I was doped up on anti-depressives at the time, but hopefully my opinion of it still stands.

Mashiro in particular shows traits, with limited, problems with social cues, problems showing emotions, and really to the point she cannot look after herself.

It has been a few years since talking in this particular thread, and so I would also like to add Watamote. Some people seem to think the main character, Tomoko, only suffers from social anxiety, but I can sympathise way too much for that to be all it is.

I have just finished watching Welcome to the NHK, which was recommended on here by TheFerretHadToGo, and it was bloody great, I have never found an anime I could relate to as much as this one. I wouldn't say Satou is autistic (more agoraphobic) but he definitely has some key traits. I also appreciate how unique this show is in that it doesn't have any of the common anime tropes or cliches that make anime unwatchable for a lot of people, no suspension of disbelief is required to get the most out of it.

Yes, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai does seem to be about a group of teens with high functioning autism / aspergers even if it wasn't originally conceived that way. The show can more commonly be found under it's shorter title "Haganai" and there are english dubbed and non-dubbed episodes available on YouTube for you to check it out. Personally I LOVE the show and can totally relate to some of it's characters.

While it's not about autism Neon Genesis Evangelion does deal with the hang ups people have that prevent them from understanding one another. One of the main characters, Shinji, shows clear signs of autism/AS as well.
