Great another one. An autistic kid with a ridiculous gimmick.

The show aired. I'm reminded of the movie Nicholas Cage is in about something similar to this. Is it possible the tv show is based on the movie? The kid is facinated with numbers and writes down a lot of numbers. The kid doesn't talk and the character that Keifer Sutherland plays figures out what the numbers mean and that they predict stuff that is to happen.

Keifer Sutherland was set on not doing tv for a while. He read the script and said "oh damn".

All I can say now is that I found it more entertaining than some other stuff on tv. Ask me in a few weeks about what position I place it in comparison to other shows.

First: I am not certain of this. But it appears that in the storyline, that there are other people that are receiving a bunch of numbers that is saying something, so therefore, it may not be singleing out an Autistic person as the only one with the gift.

Second: Pick your battles carefully. Focus your argumentive energy to subjects that really matter.

ok seen three episodes... and so far this show is trippy awesome. i am highly enjoying this.

I like the show on one hand as it attempts to make the viewer 'think'... in a manner of speaking anyway - but on the other hand it comes strongly with a dose of "watch this show because you feel sorry for kids like this" blaa blaa. That part I don't like. When you're watching it you get caught up with the pace because of the music, etc. but when it's done you are left with a feeling of it being forced on you and not being completely satisfied. I will probably watch a few more episodes, but if they keep leaving me with the same feelings I'll stop.

I do however want to know where to find those floppy/stem plantlike lights that are in the 'playroom' and the kids bedroom. I can't find them anywhere online. Anyone now where to look?? I hate lightbulbs, these things look like they give off a decent amount of light.. make a change from regular lamps. I want to try them for myself.

I identified with Kiefer's character in how he was trying anything he could to gain a connection with his son. He doesn't care that he is different from others he just wants to communicate with him.

I thought the show was interesting, I wonder if the phone is storing images from different accounts or if it is all on the same account.

Oh, there's two more threads about 'Touch' (link above with nested link inside). I guess these should be combined. It seems there are new TV programmes with different takes on autism now.

They never technically say he is autistic, but the social worker brings up that she thinks he is, and the dad disagrees. On the computer search he does in the first episode it says how an autism diagnosis can sometimes be wrong for children like this.

I really enjoy watching this show. I just don't like the fact that they are trying to call Jake not autistic. Why say that if they are portraying him as having so many autistic symptoms. I don't think there is anything wrong with calling it what it is. David Mazouz does an absolutely fantastic job. It is not easy to portray someone nonverbal when you can talk in actuality. I know I couldn't do that. The connections he makes in these episodes made me cry in happiness the first episode because I don't use numbers, but I have always made connections like that in my life. Touch is an absolutely awesome show in every way.
