Hi guys, I am new to this forum.

I apologise if its too lengthy, this will be my first post and hopefully not the last :)
AQ : 42
EQ : 15 ; SQ : 85 ->Extreme Systemizing

I am 25 this year and have not been officially diagnosed with any ASD or other personality disorder yet .
Due to certain events in my life, I came to the realization that I may have Asperger Syndrome/High Functioning Autism, so I went to read up on basic psychology hoping to understand myself better and finding answers to all the unexplained situation that is happened in my life and came across Asperger Syndrome.

I have been told that I may have delayed speech development till the age of 2.5 to 3 years old. (I know this would be classified as HFA, however I would use the term Asperger which is more commonly known and they have same traits)
I have been living my life normally without knowing that I may have any form of ASD or personality disorders.
Most of the symptoms of Asperger syndrome were obvious in my life, however it was all explained or told to me for example, dislike attending social events(Introvert, social shyness),
lack of emotional response or doing/saying things without considering other's feelings.(low EQ) , special interest in computer games(Addiction) and many more, so I never thought that it could be anything else since it sounds logical to me.

However through the years of my life, I have been learning how to socially interact with others by observing how others interact.
In a way, I have been following basic social protocols of what I have observed and applied it to my life.
I would say that I am rather good in following the basic protocols of interaction, in terms greetings and small talks and then it ends there.
I have friends but never maintained close friendships in terms of sharing thinking/personal emotions/problems.

I am going for a diagnosis in two weeks time for Asperger Syndrome, I have read that many of the diagnosis of Asperger are generalised in identifying symptoms.
Commonly used would be the AQ/EQ/SQ test etc, and DISCO with some background history.

Has anyone encountered such situation where you feel that you are 99% sure that you have Asperger and you went for a Diagnosis and it was diagnosed as you are just normal or was told that you may be thinking too much.
I worried that the camouflaging I have been trying to do all along will jeopardise the diagnosis.(I know many would say that you can just be yourself and go for the test, but it is not that easy as you have been doing constantly to blend in)

Question would be

1) What would you have done if you think you have Asperger Syndrome and was diagnosed as NT?
2) Know anyone or experience the situation where they thinks they have Asperger, went for diagnosis, diagnosed as NT and realised they are actually really NT?

I recently got diagnosed as a 20 year old. I would say that of course you should be honest, but if your not bringing someone you think knows you, be careful not to hesitate to say your abnormal. I know it sounds weird but I, just as you are doing, over analyzed a lot before i went to my diagnosis. When I took tests and such I (since I was afraid of over analyzing and falsely believe that I had Asperger's) always chose the NT-option if there was even a slight doubt in my mind about what was correct. - That approach can certainly backfire. I got diagnosed either way when my psychologist got more information but remember to not try to normalize everything.

An example: If the question was "I frequently communicate with someone other than my closest family" 1 is highly disagree and 7 is totally agree. I would think like "hmm I must remember not to over analyze, and I do chat to people on world of warcraft on a daily basis. I guess I should say 4". - Now that logic is obviously wrong. I can see that now. From an NT perspective I should certainly choose 1. Now this is just an example but I hope you get what I'm trying to explain.

And welcome =)

I read somewhere that if you think you have Asperger's you probably do.

Look back at your childhood, did you have trouble fitting in? Did you often feel misunderstood? Do you have problems doing things a certain way verses your way? I could go on and on but, the more I read, about it, the more it seems to fit and I don't think it is because I am thinking too much and perceiving it to be.

I would be honest w/ the doctor. I am planning on going for a diagnosis, myself. I just plan on being honest and telling them the crap I went through all my life.
