Back when I was a kid, in the land of 1 TV and 4 channels, I remember those early Saturday afternoons.... After American Bandstand (thanks to the insistence of my sister) things would get... funky.

RIP Don C.

Never heard of him until now. Sad ending to an otherwise inspiring life. :(

Soooooouuuuuuuuulllllllllll Train!

If you believe in an afterlife, he's up there hanging with all his favorite singers!

I wonder who the next two will be? These things come in threes.

Well, maybe next one. There was Etta Jones last week.

Yes, I knew her name was Etta James, I don't know why I typed Etta Jones. I must have had something else on my mind.

Thats true, but my favorite singer thats still living from that era is Wayne Newton. I never cared for Tom Jones. I do love Frank and Dean though. And Tony Bennet. I also like Louis Prima, do you know of him?

Didn't mean to derail this thread. If Auntblabby cares to talk about singers with me, I'll glady start a thread in Random.

i know of him, he and keely smith were an interesting duo. what a contrast between the two. my fave of the era had to be a tie between johnny desmond [voice of an angel] and bobby darin [a devil of a raconteur who truly could do it all]. also, AFAIC, tom jones [along with bobby] is the pete fountain of singers. johnny desmond was the artie shaw of singers.

anytime, but i really don't have that many fave singers that anybody else would likely care to read about. you might know a lot more than me in this area. i think that the music would could have used a singer with a deep rich voice like the late don cornelius, who would've made brook benton sound like a choirboy.
