Hi I am 22, a student

Got diagnosed with Aspergers and ADD this week, just wanted to say hi.

I would especially love to hear from girls as I have NEVER met a female with Aspergers, only males and I feel a little isolated and alone

Hello and welcome to WrongPlanet :)

Yeah I have a hard time meeting girls like me too. I am not sure if I have aspergers though.

Welcome to WP from another Northern Irelander (even if I'm a bloke!). I was diagnosed nearly 2 years ago on the NHS but had an initial consultation with a private specialist nearly a year before that.

The first person I ever met who also had AS was a girl... xD Seems weird... But yeah... There aren't a lot of us... But I believe there are more then we think...

Welcome! :)
I'm undiagnosed, but it's pretty obvious I have it.

Mitsuki,

I forgot to say earlier that there's an annual conference/retreat called Autscape that would be worth your while considering.

Autscape

I've been to it for the past 3 years and hope to go again this year when it is in East Anglia. There are plenty of Aspergirls at it.

Hi! I have Asperger´s and I feel a large gap beetween me and my peers. I would really like to meet someone with Asperger´s because I really do feel I´m in the wrong planet socially. I have never met someone like me. Two of my cousins have autism but I don´t see them much since they live in the USA and I live in El Salvador and not much is known about Asperger´s here.

Hello there. Welcome to WP. Hope you like it here.

I´ve been to Northern Ireland a number of times and love it there - seen most of the Province. Are you based around Belfast I take it?

See you around.

Tell me this though, who do you relate to best- boys, older/younger people etc. Most of my closer friends are guys the same age with maybe 2 girl friends but I don't really do much socially? Do you get along with neurotypical women?

Hi Skateri. Thanks for your reply

I completely agree with you there are probably more of us than we think, we might just have to search hard for them.

I love quotes, particularly from Einstein

Hi Rarepegs.

Great to hear from you. Thanks for your advice about the conference, I will definately look into it.

What do you think about getting a diagnosis in northern ireland, the general publics' knowledge of aspergers etc?

I found it very tricky and a long process, I found it difficult to cope with the amount of waiting I had to do. I also think being female with it made it more complicated as I think there are stereotypes of what Aspergers is and not much understanding

Hi Mackie

Do you think you will push for a diagnosis? Does it matter to you or are you content with self diagnosis?

Theres pros and cons to everything, personally I feel life is getting better now I know and am getting support now :D
