child/adolescent psychiatrist
It seems like my choice is okay/right then - a child/adolescent psychiatrist who works with adults too. So far, I seem to have something to talk to him about and he asks me completely different questions than the first psychiatrist I went to who referred me to him. A long long time ago I went to see a psychiatrist and it didn't go well - %95 of the time I did all the talking until I've exhausted myself. She kept telling me that things need to come from me but eventually the well ran dry and I literally ran out of things to talk about - at which time I decided to stop seeing her. Unfortunately, it is not easy to switch psychiatrists like with doctors because it takes quite a while to get somewhere and re-explaining yourself each time is very mentally taxing.
I'm also seeing a child/adolescent psychiatrist who also works with adults. It's going great. He puts me in charge of what we talk about, and understands me. He's also a autism/aspergers consultant and has many aspergers patients. I can trust him and am making lots of progress.
The psychiatrist I saw before him, very long ago, just asked questions then didn't listen to the answers. It was very frustrating.
I hope it continues to go well for you.
