I like almost every kind of music, but I'm kind of fussy with the particular artists that I like in each area, and most of the stuff that gets released by most people just sounds really bad and cheesy to me, so I usually just get stuck listening to the same music all the time, by the same artists, over and over again.

I put it all on one big playlist with hundreds of songs, on shuffle mode, and just let it keep cycling through the songs until I get tired of them, and keep removing boring songs from the list until only the really good ones remain... But then I get tired of those too, from repeating them so many hundreds of times.

In the end it becomes annoying just to listen to them at all, and I'm skipping practically every track.

Listening to the radio or whatever to find new stuff won't do it for me, because there is just so much trash being played, that I can't stand it. Asking for recommendations never helps, because people recommend stuff that they think is similar to my interests when it's really not, and they don't perceive the difference.

Sometimes I have gotten lucky with people randomly recommending stuff that I do end up liking, without asking them to, but people with such similar tastes seem to be rare.

Does anyone have this kind of problem? What do you do to find new music that isn't awful?

Sometimes from Film Scores or Movie Soundtracks.

If I hear a good song in a movie I may seek out the artist.

I go through the same thing. It always makes me sad when I realize that a song that used to get me all excited starts becoming boring to me.

I'm quite similar.
However, there's some music that I don't bored of as I don't put it on my playlist. I need a certain mood for that music and it doesn't go well with the rest of shuffled songs.

I never tire of listenening to Depeche Mode.

I do listen to various other music depending what sort of mood I'm in, - occasionally certain tracks by Pink Floyd, - or if I need to relax then it has to be something from Sigur Ros.

With the sheer amount of music I've got, I don't get tired of it or bored with it. I can always find something I haven't listened to for a while, and play that.

I have a lot of music, but the problem is that I play it constantly, to drown out noise. Eventually I get through all of it.

When I eventually start over from scratch, and re-add all of the tracks that were removed from the playlist quite some time ago, they are refreshing for a while.

For a while......

I do this, and with games also.

I have considered it. I'm all about considerations.

But unfortunately very few actions.

Have you thought about looking at Shoutcast or Last.FM?

Didn't see Youtube mentioned yet (unless I missed it). This is actually how I discover a lot of new music nowadays.
