roomate issues

I was diagnosed about 6 months ago.

I have never really had any issues with anyone though, I keep to myself and Iam quite happy with the few friends I have.

My roommate is a "friend" of mine who I usually get along with. Unfortunately I sometimes go through these phases where I just want to chill by myself, listening to some music or reading or just doing my thing. He knows about my condition but just does not seem to get it, he thinks Iam pissed at him and starts his tantrums. How do I make it clear that I just dont want to talk sometimes. Btw these phases sometimes last for a week or so.

The last time this happened he tried to punch me and I ended up breaking his nose.

Help please.

It sounds like your roommate may have the good old American attitude of "Screw you, me first". There is very little consideration for your fellow man/woman these days. It is not hard to give you some of the space you need, but there is no way I know of to enforce that without physical violence. If he wants to throw a fit, let him, as long as he's not being passive-aggressive. The situations I've been in with roommates really sucked. I just put up with it until I found a way out of it, then I immediately got the heck out of there. I would rather live in my truck than live with a roommate.
