There may be nothing mechanical wrong with your hearing, but you may have a neurological problem processing the sounds you hear in the area of clarity. I have a slight loss of hearing due to loud noise at several family functions I attended when younger--the DJs played the music at full blast, driving me out of the dining halls and into the rest rooms. I was my mother's driver so I couldn't get out of going.
However, I have always had a problem with clarity, to some extent. I sometimes have a problem understanding people on the phone or radio if the sound quality isn't good. I also have trouble understanding clarity in noisy, crowded areas. I do have problems processing input mentally, and do better with visual input, so I guess my sound clarity issue is part of my processing problems. Because of my processing problems it often takes me longer to analyse and understand input, which often leads to a time delay in my responses.
I'm not sure of what can be done at this point, as it seems to be a processing rather than a mechanical problem. If it were fixable by hearing aid that would be good, but I don't see how a hearing aid can fix a mental processing issue. I do think it may be part of your collection of syndrome symptoms, though.
