I know I am. Hearing the sound of people chewing thier food - it just sounds so horrible! I know I probably do it too, but I don't really hear myself. Maybe I notice the sounds of other people more because of my problem. But does anyone else hate it?

I can't stand listening to people masticate with their mouths open, it sounds disgusting and makes me cringe to the point where I have to look away. I don't mind if it's just a bit but when it's full, open mouth, loud chewing it's revolting. Shut your mouths you uncouth slobs.

It still sounds loud to me even when they're closed. I just don't like the sound of them breaking down their food, and the sound of it as it moves around.

I am! I'm get irritated from all kinds of noises easily. If somebody burps, it really makes me go crazy. Also, farting irritates me as well. Let's see what else...popping your knuckles, nails on a blackboard, brushing your teeth, men shaving their face, high pitched loud sounds, children screaming, people popping and clicking their mouth, people biting into ice, people picking their scab....those are just a few things but when they happen I get really irritated and mad. I also hate it when people breathe too loudly or snore.

Oh, I also can't stand loud and/or repetitive coughing even if it's not the person's fault.

Yes, it is called misophonia and a minority of Aspies have it (like me), as well as quite a few people with other conditions (like ADHD or anxiety disorders) and many with no other psychological or neurological conditions at all.

You can read more about it here:

http://www.misophonia-uk.org/

http://www.soundsensitivity.info/

There are a number of YouTube videos about it, and a number of other web sites that discuss it, including a couple of forums for people with misophonia.

It sometimes makes me want to hurt myself having to hear people chewing with their mouths open, especially when they are eating some extra-noisy stuff like potato-chips. It also disturbs me when people sneeze, or when they don´t properly blow their nose when it´s dripping, but instead keep on making this horrible sniffing sound. Also snoring makes me mad.

I didn't know it was an actual kind of problem.

My Dad is sat across the table from me right now, and eating. You can imagine how I feel at this moment, although I'm hiding it.

I definitely know how you feel, except I would probably be unable to hide it if it was my dad, since no one is as noisy as he when he eats. I remember when I first learned of misophonia it was such a relief. Everyone had always told me I just shouldn't be bothered by those noises and blaming me for letting them irritate me like that and I could never understand why it was so hard for me to control that frustration.

Movie theaters bug me. You can hear scores of people chewing popcorn and fidgeting with candy wrappers, not to mention the ocean of blue lights from all the smart phones getting used in the seats ahead.

I meant the noises people make when they're eating.

You would murder me if you had a meal with me, then. ;)
