Over the last year my well being has declined and I find it extremely difficult to do daily tasks around the home. I find it hard to talk to people over the phone and telling them what I need and I constantly losing the thread when I am conversing. My family are getting annoyed as I come out with inappropriate things and somehow I cannot be serious anymore. I get good days and bad days.

I am on citrolopram 40mg and other meds so I am not sure if this is the cause and I am type 2 diabetic.

So I was wondering if any of you out there having similar experience.

Should get in touch with your GP or Doctor about it. If you feel your wellbeing has declined & coping. Don't know if your getting any support that can help you, or maybe ask one of your family to help with the GP, Doctor.

Or they all stopped at this point helping.

Here are some potential side effects of the medication you are on.

this drug has been known to mess with blood sugar levels, and should be taken with caution if diabetic. uneven/low blood sugars can be behind the mental fogginess.

Citalopram made me extremely tired and lethargic. It reduced my concentration, attention span, and dulled my interests. More than a year after stopping the medication I still have problems with initiating and completing tasks as well as poor memory. I beat the worst of my depression by myself (the medication in fact made it worse) but continue to struggle to get my life back on track because of the after effects of citalopram.

Do yourself a favour and speak to your doctor about reducing the dosage or coming off this awful drug completely.

Citalopram doesn't cause brain damage or any perminant side effects. I'd suggest you look into any other possible causes.

Are you an expert in drugs? Have you got your own lab & are testing this drug on mice or rats?

Just because it is legal does not mean it can not cause permanent damage. It's the same as taking any drug, it can cause damage. You take the risk of accepting anything that happens to you is ok. For treating your problem that you see.

Messing with chemicals can cause damage just because the adverts say “correct a pre existing chemical imbalance”, which should say “will likely cause a chemical imbalance, as the brain try s to compensate.

Just like a nuclear reactor when its over heating or the cooling system is blocked, it will try to balance out the problem or you do a “hair follicle test” to see if your unbalanced

( I am not an expert either, but to say it can't cause any perminant or brain damage. You must be in research of drugs? )

Really? And where did you acquire your expertise on Citalopram?

One side effect which I have only recently managed to shake off which is reportedly sometimes indefinite:

There is a whole host of references at the bottom of the article.
