My 12 year old sister Katelyn is interested and I read a 4 out of 5 star review so decided to read it. Started about 9:30AM and between bathroom breaks some snacks I finished a little after 11PM. :-) WOO!! !! !! ! I LOVE how I can just engross myself into a book! Katelyn is only up to chapter 10 OMG! you're ahead of me! LOL! I already have tickets bought for Friday! I hope she finishes the book by then!! !! :-) YA!! !! Supposedly the 2nd book is going to be a film in Nov. 2013 so plenty of time to read the 2nd and 3rd books. :-)

I have not yet read the books but I really want to. Sadly the waiting list at the library is immense. :( If I ever get a chance to read it, I will decide if I want to see the movie.

The film seems much better than the Twilight films. The basic idea of the books seems more interesting anyway. And I'll watch it next Saturday.

I wouldn't say I am excited, but I guess it'll be fun.

Yeah, I found the books quite fun. I liked the mixture of violence and romance. Also, a story about games and rules appeals to my Aspie-esque brain.

(For anyone who doesn't know what the plot is, its about some teenagers who are told to fight to the death. So the same plot as Battle Royale, only slightly less gory).

The films should be good, I'm looking forward to it. I like how the stories appeal to both genders, unlike Twilight which is a bit girly I think.

Yeah, that's what I like about the story, too. ^^

I plan on going to my neighborhood theater next Saturday
where The Hunger Games will be playing.

My sister warned me that no matter where I go to see
The Hunger Games, the theater will be packed with fans. 8)

It looks interesting. First of all, unlike the Potter and Twilight franchises, they have an already-proven actress playing the lead. (bonus points for it being Jennifer Lawrence since I like her and she has an Oscar nomination under her belt) Secondly, the story appears to be less fantasy and more science fiction. Even though I try to stear clear of dystopian future films while they're still relevant, the setting seems to take a back seat to the characters and their actions. And lastly is the borrowing of classic story ideas (IE: The Most Dangerous Game) and revising them just enough to where they aren't ripping everything off from the inspiration material.

Even though I'm not 100% familiar with the books (thanks a lot, iTunes for not carrying it), this does look like one of the most promising long-term film premises to come down the pike in some time. Here's hoping Hollywood doesn't drop the ball with this one like they have so many times before.

I look forward to the first film. The soundtrack is pretty good and many of the costumes looked brilliant so far.

I totally lost interest in the Twilight films after the first and friends and family had to talk me into watching the last three/two Harry Potter films but this is a film I actually very much want to watch.

Usually the idea of having to sit through 130+ minutes of blah is not raising my spirits but as with the Sherlock Holmes films, I think that won't be an issue here.

What is it rated anyway? Anybody know? I imagine it's made to be less... intense, so to speak, than the book to allow the younger audience to watch it at cinemas and bring in the money.

Edit: oh, yeah I still got to finish the 3rd book... please don't directly comment on/directly answer to my post with spoilers. Thanks.

I got sick of a certain District and got stuck right at the beginning. I really need to get over it and finish the book.

PG-13 in the US, 12A in the UK, likely a 14A in Canada, and likely an MA15 in Australia.

The books were very thin and predictable but I still read all 3 (each took less than a day to read). It was a decent story but I don't anticipate the movies being that great. I would watch on netflix.

I am watching it 2moro

I don't think it is written the greatest, but really like it. Similar to harry potter in that aspect (at least for the first 2 or 3 books)
