There are a lot of annoying things out there that I see bother Aspies more than NTs. Now I know that not all Aspies have the same pet peeves, but let's have a poll out of curiosity!

Also, discuss if you want.

I think the light thing would bother me the least out of all you've mentioned.

Bright lights really bother me. I tend to get headaches being in a store with to much light. One of the examples is the 99 cents store. They don't have a ceiling, instead their ceiling is made of lights. Literally I am being honest here. Now imagining walking in there at peak time in the afternoon so now you have the sun coming through the windows and the shine of artificial lights on you. It hurts my eyes, gives me a headache, makes me dizzy. I cannot stand bright lights it just hurts my eyes to much.

In general, my sensory problems are very mild... But I must say that noise gets to me the most of all of these.

Can't stand itchy/scratchy clothing or garment tags. :wall: .

Isn't it common for odors not to pose as big of a problem as the others? (in aspies)

LIGHTS ARE HORRIBLE. I need everything dim. It's enough to make me squint inside. The eye doctor told me it's because I have blue eyes that like to be dialated... so much so that I probably wouldn't need drops to make them dialated. Ugh.

At my old job, I could control the amount of lighting. I only would put one out of the three lights on. Everyone thought it was odd... oh well.

Definitely noises. I don't have a problem with bright lights and not too much with clothes either. I do have really sensitive skin though. I hate loud or annoying noises.

Repetitive sounds can make me really angry. especially when they're caused by another person. I just get the urge to shout at them and to tell them to cut it out. It feels like they're doing it just to annoy me personally.

Bright lights aren't so great either. I can deal with them, but I hate those florecent lights you get in offices and classrooms... etc. They look ugly and they make me look ugly as well, not to mention the headaches.

I copied and now I am pasting this from a posted I made on Facebook yesterday:

-------------------------------------------------------------
I HATE SCENTED CANDLES!! !! !! !!
The one my mom has going on right now is so overwhelming. I can't even think and It blurs my vision. It makes me want to scream sooooo bad. I'm trapped in my own room.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I hate almost anything scented.
Strong smells like that candle yesterday cause me pain that i can only explain by saying It made me feel black and red.
( Yes, that's right. Some very strong smells and emotions have color. )

I have a really bad problem with sound too. It was so bad that 4 years ago I took a handheld police scanner and blasted white noise into my ears until my hearing was permanently damaged. Sound is still a big problem though.
And yes I too really want to shout at people who make annoying sounds like chewing and tapping anything.

And some lights.

I selected ''loud sudden noises''. I don't seem so sensitive to anything else.

Both sudden loud noises and overbearing scents bother me equally.

Oh man, me too. I don't feel like they're doing it to personally annoy me if they're a stranger or not at all associated with me, but in class if someone is tapping a pencil or making weird noises I just want to throw things at them.

Kids've done that during math tests before (my worst subject where I've gotten C's and below each and every class) and I had to be taken out of the room to do the test elsewhere because I had a panic attack.

1 through 3 all bother me. I don't have a very good sense of smell, so that usually doesn't bother me, but there have been occasions when even that bothered me. Certain flower/perfume fragrances, and bananas. I can't stand the smell or taste of bananas. Once my mother's health got bad, I often had to do the grocery shopping without her. She had permission from her doctor to substitute bananas for some of her potassium doses, so I had to pick out the most perfect bunches of bananas, or get grief from her. It takes longer to pick out perfect ones. She shared them with the dog, so they got used up faster, forcing me to buy them more often. And I didn't even get to wear a gas mask while picking them out.
