Hi everyone my name is Alexis. I've looked at a few posts and everyone here seems very nice.
I was diagnosed as bipolar a few years back and I've wondered if it was a misdiagnosis a lot since then. Since I met an Aspie friend a little over a year ago, I have wondered if that diagnosis is a better fit for me, but I have been scared to talk to a therapist since my diagnosis; the way it unfolded left me feeling unheard and kind of medically objectified, if that makes any sense.

I read an article featured on the opening page about pretending to be NT and the woman who wrote it said she does it a lot by using character-based role play techniques. I guess I wasn't surprised at all because I've felt like that's what I've been doing my entire life.

I don't know how to think about it. I have a lot of Aspies and neurodiverse people in my life and at least I feel at home with them moreso than with many. I guess I'm just poking my head out to say hi.

hi. :)

I have AS and bipolar. The guy that diagnosed me was a real jerk too. If you are still having problems in your life you should try a new therapist. They are anything but all the same.

Thanks for the reminder about the diversity of therapists; I prefer not to subconsciously vilify any group of people. I still have quite a bit of confusion about how to proceed forward in life, but I'm told that's a symptom of being human. I don't actually know if that confusion counts as problematic.

I was misdiagnosed with bipolar for while. So I got REALLY angry and was depressed, I guess that equals being bipolar :?
