Hi, mylifeisshiv, a couple suggestions - normally, I suggest that people contact their state's department of human services first to find what your tax dollars are doing for you; they should be able to at least make referrals: http://dhhs.ne.gov/developmental_disabi ... index.aspx

Second, Autism Speaks keeps a regional list of groups, service providers and other resources - service providers may be able to refer you to a group: http://www.autismspeaks.org/community/f ... =32&cid=88 Your public school district's department of special services may also be able to direct you; often there's a PTA sub-group for parents of special needs kids.

Third, people sometimes create their own groups on social sites like meetup.com - if you list what you're looking for, like-minded people can find you.

Since aspies tend to be diagnosed a bit later than classic autism, it can be hard to find a support group or play group when your child is still preschool age. Forming your own is one way to do it. What I did was to post an announcement of an informal monthly "coffee talk" on our local autism board. I wasn't able to get a group started, but did meet some interesting people.
