I'm continuously told that I don't feel anything, and that the definition of autism is that I don't feel anything..

This is killing me! I feel so much!

I don't think you have anything to prove to anybody. You are what you are, who cares what anybody else thinks? Let them live in their ignorance.

"Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."-Dr. Seuss

slightly shallow but, at times, it's something to remember when you need a boost of confidence.

Please don't rely on the definition of autism, even if others do. After all, the definition comes from the same reliable folks who gave us "female hysteria" and so on. They've already change their Definition to include AS. Tomorrow they might change it again to include feelings. Not your problem. What you feel is real. Medical definitions reflect psychiatric consensus, which changes all the time.

Um, come to think of it, when you say 'definition' , do you mean DSM-IV?

So THAT is how they do it! I was wondering how they seem to know what each other was talking about!

You're being told this by people who want you to feel a certain way that they dictate to you, right?

thats for sure... I've tried to explain my feelings are black and white. Meaning all or nothing, I've tried doing it other ways but I just can't, I'm either totally obsessed and enthralled, or not interested..

I have been told I show no feelings, too. And you are right, it is like on/off, all/nothing.
We turn our emotions off on purpose sometimes as a way of protecting ourselves. We receive everything around us as input, add all emotions responses and we overflow. So yes, we show and feel nothing sometimes because we have to. We have an all or nothing valve, we can't filter as others do.
This is as it is for me, I have accepted it now.
