I am a huge fan of alternative comics, or comix, and I was wondering if anyone else here was too. One of my life goals is to create a comic book like the ones I like reading; I can't draw, but I know I can do it.
If anyone here does like comix, feel free to list some of yor favorites. I really like Love and Rockets, but Optic Nerve is also excellent, and I really like the new Best American Comics 2006 volume.

When I was younger all I read was stuff like Beano, Simpsons, some xmen.

My main interest at the moment though is more manga; things like akira, appleseed etc.

Hiya bookwibble,

I just stumbled across this post and thought I could help a little.

My name is Adam, and I create the comic 'The Flowfield Unity' - http://www.flowfieldunity.com.

First of all, you don't need to draw to create a comic. There are plenty of artists that use collage and 'borrowed' images to create their comics. You can always get someone to draw what you write too.

As for alternative comics, you might like to check out Transplant Comics... http://www.transplantcomics.com... they're a pretty mixed bag, but I'm sure you'll find one that you might like.

Anyway, if you ever have any questions about making your own comic, get in contact.

Best wishes,

Adam
