I don't know if there's something on this already or not, but I just thought it would be interesting to know where people's usernames came from.

So, mine:
I wanted to be called Jess, but of course, that was already taken. So I decided to have Jess in the name somewhere. I was in a hurry when joining, so I decdied to call myself EnglishJess to let people know where I was from. Now I sort of regret it, but you can't change names here. I'm just glad I started it with a capital letter.

Somewhere I think there is, but it must be old now

Anyway, for those who don't know, it was because I couldn't think of a name and there was a ten pence piece on the desk...Imaginitive, isn't it ;)

There have been a couple of topics like this in the past, but they don't get posted every damn day like the "which historical figure or fictional character do you think had Asperger's?" and "do you think I have Asperger's?" topics.

Anyway, Jory is a character in Philip K. Dick's novel Ubik. It's basically like The Matrix or Inception, only better, and written 30 or 40 years earlier.

I didn't. I wanted to call myself Starman, and tried a variety of other Bowie nicknames which weren't available. So I settled on a reference to my obsession - Echo & the Bunnymen. Funnily, in a recent letter to the fans, Ian McCulloch refers to the band as The Buns - though I've only seen fans online ever use that nickname, but it couldn't be where he got the idea from since he doesn't read the internet. Makes me proud to be Bun. 8)

The guy in my avatar, Scott Summers, a.k.a. the Senses-Shattering Cyclops. leader of the X-Men... I didn't want to be 'Cyclops', like swo many other people on comic book sites, I didn't want to call myself 'Scott Summers', either. So I decided to combine the two into 'CyclopsSummers'.

I thought I was soooo original, until I finally googled my own username to find there's another CyclopsSummers on the Superhero Hype Boards. He is not me (and he registered that name a fair bit before I did).

I'm a fan of the author Simon Green. Razor Eddie, punk God of the straight razor is one of the characters in his 'Nightside' series.

Wandering stranger is the title of a song (and an album, I think) by Andy Clayburn.

When I made my wronplanet account I could not think of a name so I went with my windows live ID, and when I made that my guild in World of Warcraft was trying to get threw a particularly annoying dungeon and we kept getting defeated by a boss who was a Titan (well an aspect of a Titan), and while we where waiting for the rest of the team to find there corpses (in World of Warcraft you have to run around as a ghost and find you corps to resurrect), since we where using Vent (a voice chat for video games), I decided to entertain the rest of the team be reciting my encyclopedic knowledge of the boss we where trying to kill. After a while one of the guild members finally said "Shut up titan geek!"

The Jaguar XJ220 is my favorite car of all time. My mom put up a poster of it in my room when I was barely old enough to know what a car is. Then, when I was 5-6, I was racing it in the Need for Speed II: Special Edition computer game, and that is when my life-long "Aspie obsession" with exotic supercars started. The "RACER" part just seemed like the best word to use to connect the car to myself.

I also use this name on Last.fm, YouTube, and Xbox Live. One time on XBL some random guy said it's "a pretty badass GamerTag" 8)

Inyanook means "small" in the dialect of the Australian Bangerang tribe.

I chose it because I like making myself as small as possible when I sleep, I have direct Aboriginal heritage (though not from that tribe), and also because it's just such a good word. Seriously, say it. "Inyanook". It's so satisfying!

Name related, sorta - I couldn't think of anything else. I wish I had of put more thought into it now that I know I can't change it.

The "space" part is a reference to one of my favorite animes, Cowboy Bebop. (The main characters are futuristic bounty hunters known as space cowboys). The "apple" part is simply because I've always been obsessed with all things Apple. And the "seed" part was an accident - autocorrect attached it because I often use it as a password and I didn't notice until my username had been set. Guess no one will have a hard time hacking into my accounts now...
