My name is David.I am 34 years old and have suspected that I may be an aspie for awhile now.I definitely exibit many of the signs that are accustomed to being an aspie ,but also have a question about a couple of characteristics that i'm not sure about.I tend to have problems with really soft textures such a corduroy fabrics or the cotton in asprin bottles.Sometimes its so severe that i feel a buildup of electrical current in the back of my neck that causes me to have what may be myoclonic jerking.I don't loose consciousness and it doesn't happen for an extended period, but it comes in waves for a period of time.I just wondered if anyone else may have experienced this or if it may be signs of something else.Social anxiety problems are bad enough without worrying about touching the wrong clothing style.....thank you for reading and any feedback would be greatly appreciated......p.s. forgot about the second thing...i tend to have a severe fear of phones....not realy using them but the awkwardness of talking on them...even to people I know sometimes ,but especially strangers .Would love feedback on this as well...Thank you..

Welcome to the forums! Sensitivity to certain fabrics and textures is very common here. :)

I don't know about the first thing, but I definitely don't like making phone-calls. I can't even order a pizza through the phone. Although, I can call my foster-father, my sister and my best friend. It is much easier for me to take calls, Although, the ringing bothers me so I just set my cell-phone permanently on silent.

thank you for answering.it means alot to me that others know a little about what some of these things are like.they can feel almost crippling at times when it comes up at work.I work in a rescue mission bargain center.I have to deal with alot of triggers like working with customers and donations, cloting of many diffrent types, problems with the feeling of gloves on my hands, and although i've had a time coming to grips with it all,on top of social issues in my personal life,I feel better for putting myself out of my comfort zone....Sometimes though it can be a bit overwelming....

Plenty of people here have tactile sensory issues and many (including myself) avoid using phones, so you are not alone!

While textures dont bother me phones do. I always fear that I will say the wrong thing or forget what to say, I oftern spend a great deal of time scripting my conversation before having it (I also do this for non phone conversations). Welcome to WrongPlanet it seems you will fit in well ;)

Welcome! I don't like those microfiber towels and washcloths, they feel creepy to me. I also don't like wearing synthetic fibers - I prefer cotton. I also don't like wearing long socks-over my ankles-even in winter. Yeah, we're a touchy bunch.

I thought the microfiber thing was just me. I'm not a big fan of the feel, it's more of the look of them that's the turnoff for me, but I've found them to be useful in detailing my machines. Costco sells a big package of a kind I can live with.

That Under Armor material weirds me out and haven't noticed it to be any better for perspiration

I've always hated socks and only in the last 10 years have I worn them, as a concession to appearances. I found a Crocs-like work shoe that I wear as much as I can get away with, and being outside a majority of the time, nobody has the cause to complain

Phones - I'm probably better at taking a call than making one. I'm glad for voicemail, and usually hope the callee doesn't pick up on the 3rd ring. If I can make it past that and still fumble, I can always re-record my message. I am comfortable making a live call as long as it's a simple question, and I have a local pizza place that only sells 1 size, trying to order a pizza from the biggies leaves my head spinning

I used to have these mini-panic attacks every time the house phone rang (when I lived with family). I have a particular extra special hatred of a land-line phone. I still do not like to talk on the phone, although I will if I have to. Certain ringtones make me wanna smash things though.
