I'm sitting here in sofa and I can't stop thinking about work. I hate my job and just as usual I'm so anxious about going there today. This week I'm working 4 days (Tuesday-Friday) and I don't know how I'll manage. I can't understand how people manage to hold down a full-time job and still have energy to do other things in their spare time.

I hate my job because I need to do things I'm rubbish at. I have to smile, look people in the eyes, be nice to customers, be around loads of people, multitask, be around noise for hours and hours and it all just makes me feel so anxious. I don't know what to do and I can't stop thinking about it. I'll probably start hitting my head soon.

I also get anxious for a lot of different things and I never know how to handle it.

Not sure why I'm writing this. I guess I just need to vent. Also, if anyone's got any advice on what to do when I'm this anxious, please let me know.

The best tip is to do whatever reduces anxiety to the utmost. That heavy feeling in the pit of your stomach, that dread and anxiety.. exercise in particular helps the most. If you get depressed enough you can get put off track, but don't let anything side track and if you do get sidetracked---get back on the track.

The release of endorphins and other chemicals from exercising almost pushes the anxiety and nervousness out of you long enough that when you get home, you can occassionally sit back and enjoy your interests without worrying about work. An intense 30 minute cardio workout (running or jogging) can do wonders.

I know the feeling tho, I remember the online job application I feeled out for the job, the one that asks how often you stress over work related stuff at home. For me the answer truthfully is VERY often.

I always think about how I can improve on what I did yesterday, how I can feel ways to not be drained physically after standing for several hours, how I can improve on small talk and deal with loud noises going off every few minutes by security alarms, customers, whining kids and other crap. It has kept me up nights, prevented me from doing things that I enjoy BUT also happen to require somewhat mundane multi-tasking.

Also difficult and annoying co-workers who my bosses don't even seem to look the other way at.

Certain traits I have are awesome for customer service, i'm very nice to customers, very straight forward, they rarely if ever think i'm trying to pull one over on them and I get complimented a lot.

If you're working a lot of days, get optimum sleep, it reduces the chemicals that produce stress tremendously and also stay hydrated. The things you feel rubbish at will still remain incredibly difficult, but you'll at least be able to grit your way through them more effectively.

Having someone to vent to or talk to about whats bothering you is tremendously helpful--also needed. Doesn't matter who either.

If you need to, drink a small couple of coffee. No cream or sugar, it helps with multi-tasking somewhat in my opinion since your brain can process thoughts quicker after drinking a cup.
