Dissolvable stitches tend to be used inside the body as scar tissue can become infected if regular stuff isnt removed. The dissolvable ones react with the enzymes in the body over time in order to dissolve.
If he used dissolvable stitches to close your wound, they would of dissolved a lot quicker, due to being exposed to the environment and movement of the face. this would of meant the wound stayed open, risking infection and significant scarring.

Thanks, yeah maybe it was because it was on my cheek and when you talk and eat your jaw moves that part of your face a lot. The procedure I watched was the same except the girl got her mole removed on her nose and they used dissolvable stitches. Thanks, that makes a lot of sense.
