My favourite TV show ever is The Simpsons despite the fact that it has gone down hill throughout the years. But my two other favourites are, well you've seen the title. But alot of the times they do make a lot of jokes that would kinda go a little far. I always laugh but sometimes I kinda feel a little guilty for laughing at say a jew joke or a joke about the disabled. The character Joe from FG does make me laugh at times especially when it comes to making fun of him doing stuff like combining with other wheelchair people and forming Crippletron, but it does make fun of the disabled, so would people judge me for laughing at that. I'm not laughing at the disabled, I'm laughing at Family Guy. Of course both shows make fun of religion and I laugh at that though at times I don't know if I should. Also family Guy had that one episode with the down syndrome girl and I love that song Stewie sings but again I feel kinda guilty and unethical for doing so because I feel like I'm laughing at down syndrome people which I'm not. Of course the voice behind that girl happens to have down syndrome herself and if she's cool with it then I guess that's OK. In an episode of SP there was one where they made fun of ginger kids and I love that episode. I started to realise maybe I shouldn't like that episode because I myself am ginger, but I figured that's kinda stupid and I still love the episode.

I used to be a fan of both Family Guy and South Park, but they took the jokes about my religion too far. I used to watch entire episodes and just skip the parts that made fun of it, but eventually I found myself skipping entire chunks of episodes and entire episodes altogether because of how much I found offensive. So I decided to just stop watching those shows altogether.

I still watch Family Guy but one episode I saw went over the line. It was the one which just featured Stewie and Brian. They were locked in a bank's vault. Stewie convinced Brian to clean his diaper in the grossest way known to man. That scene can turn your stomach. There was also the scene in another episode where Lois Griffin showed her college porn movie in church and her entire family was in attendance. I'm sure Family Guy is probably banned in some countries. And we know cartoons can be censored because they censored the portrayal of Mohammed from South Park.

I think as long as you don't actually believe, for example, that ginger kids don't have souls it's fine to laugh at these jokes. It would of course be polite to check with people that might be offended that they are fine with it as well before watching an episode around them.

Out of curiosity, what religion are you?

That was a pretty disgusting joke, but it wasn't really offensive in any way.

If you feel guilty watching Southpark and Family guy, how do you feel about watching a Lisa Lampeneli Stand up or a Celebrity Roast?

I think that everything should be able to be laughed at as long as it's funny. Politically Correctness is just censorship.

Anyways I love South Park and think it's one of the greatest shows of all time. Family Guy however I feel kind of eh about, it's kind of amusing if you're in a mood to just let your mind go to mush and laugh at stupidity but that's really all it is... Just low brow humor to have on in the background while you're doing something else or when you just don't want to think.

You cann't really fault anyone for being offended by Southpark and, not finding it funnyh.. They go out of their way to try and offend everyone they can. It's part of their schtick but, that's not everyones cup of tea. As long as the realize that the remote has a channel change button or off switch and, they aren't crusading to get the program off the air I'm OK with them not laughing.

For me, it's always going to be South Park. At least Trey Parker and Matt Stone don't tell one random joke after another, though i can't help but feel that season 16 has been hit and miss so far. Hope i'm wrong when October comes around.

Everytime someone hears that I like the Simpsons they always ask if I watch Family Guy, and tell me how excellent it is. I can't watch it for more than 30 seconds. It's as if someone recorded a few loud annoying people shouting, then animated it. Unsubtle garbage. Conversely, South Park is unsubtle genius.

Sorry but this isn't really helping me. I'm just hearing what other people have said before. I wanna know if there is anyone out there who sort of agrees with me BUT...... do they not just like these shows but absolute love them the same way that I do like say are they in your top 5 or 10?

I feel no guilt at laughing at those jokes. I don't really see their "racist" jokes as making fun of some race but rather making fun of the stereotypes by pushing them to an extreme. The audience isn't laughing at some race, but rather the irrationality of being racist in the first place.

This. The racism is usually so over the top that it becomes ridiculous, at least in south park.

This is a small excerpt from my blog, thought it was somewhat relevant

[quote="Xenu']Stop having f*****g double standards! Are people of other minority races or of different sexual orientations getting special privileges in America?
