Not coins, but I have a HUGE shell collection. It is museum quality with over 1000 different specimens, Worked on it for years, I have nearly 100 species of Cone shells, Conus sp alone. Those are the venemous snails, btw.
I also collect minerals & fossils, but not to this extent. And though it may not play well, I have a huge collection of classic rock, unfortunately mostly on old audio tape.

Sincerely,
Matthew

I wouldn't call myself a "collector" in the sense that I seek out rare coins, but when I find them I save them in a small box I have. I work at a store and it's amazing what you find in the cash register.

My true (current) obsession is lap steel guitars. I have 13 most from the 40's abd 50's. The're not crazy expensive like vintage guitars but there not exactly cheap either.

I once had an obsession with collecting twigs. But I didn't ever have one with collecting coins. At least collecting coins isn't weird like collecting twigs off the ground... I was quite young when I had that obsession though. I'm not much of a collector anymore, unless collecting images on my computer counts as collecting.

I had a tiny phase where coins started to pull me in. There was a shop in town. I got a few then realized with a sinking terror, this obsession was an ocean with only bankruptcy at the bottom. I like smaller universes but I suppose you specialize.

I just started stacking silver rounds and maples. Hedging....

I've lost so many collections due to moving.

I collect toys. I have a livingroom FULL of toys.... Metal lunch boxes. All of them collectable and now actually worth some decent coin.

Click if you have an interest.

I collect computers and electronics too I think... I have bunches of them, bunches, selves, bins, buckets full of random parts.

320kbps?

I almost forgot my largest collection, my digital media archive. Terabytes and Terabytes of music, movies, Thousands of Documentaries, The entire ASL video dictionary database, All of Wikipedia in case it ever goes offline, I have it on a thumbdrive.

I average 750Gb - 1Tb a month on my downloads, and I rename everything to match my naming schema, easier for me to parse.

I collect lots of stuff, including coins, fossils, ww2 stuff, hi-fi and old toy cars! (You probably all know and remember Matchbox, Hotweels, Corgi and Dinky? At least those of you rounding 30-40-50 yrs)
The problem with each collection is that I enter almost a manic period where I read everything there is to read online and order books from Amazon.com. I use a lot of time only to find that I have forgotten 80% of it a couple of years later when I concentrate on other things. So I waste a lot of my time. But I got a nice collection of everything, though.
(Anyone have toycars lying around? :D )

No coins, but I am a true collector... Old TV sets (as old as 1946), and I have a very complete collection of every Sony mini-TV ever made from 1959-2005. I guess I have about 200 TV sets total.

And I collect air raid (tornado) sirens, but being so enormous, I only have 5 of them.

And if that's not enough, I have 8 motorcycles and 9 Diesel-powered cars and trucks.

AND the scariest beginnings of any collection: I got a 53,000-lb Caterpillar bulldozer last year, and I keep watching Craigslist for other cool heavy equipment

"One of anything is never enough... I need one of EACH VERSION of EACH MODEL of EACH THING for EACH MODEL YEAR"

*Just to be clear; I'm not a hoarder and I don't have a row of rusty old junk cars sitting out. All of my stuff is clean, nicely displayed, and in excellent working order. Part of my collecting urge is to fix up and maintain all this stuff. The vehicles are all with current tags, washed and waxed regularly, and I keep them in garages with battery maintainers plugged in, so they are all in condition to just get in and drive. One of my motorcycles is actually brand-new from 1986, and is on a custom made display stand in the living room!

I have a massive fossil collection. Of particular interest to me are micro fossils, which in turn means I have amassed an impressive collection of antique salt shakers to keep them in.

I also collect books, with an emphasis on Russian Lit. and I collect to a lesser degree coins, and lanterns. Currently I have 18 fish tanks up and running, which may or may not count as a collection as well.

My partner keeps telling me I'm going to turn into a mole woman with a complex labyrinth of tunnels full of neurotically organized and cataloged 'stuff' beneath the house. Eeep!

I had a slew of collections as a child. My biggest was Archie comic books, which I collected/read from ages 6-13. When I stopped collecting, I had over 700. I would count them and spread them all out periodically, to track the progression of the collection. Archie comic books were one of my biggest SIs in childhood. My other big collections during childhood were pencils, dead bugs, foreign coins, and feathers.

The only true collection I have now is I Love Lucy memorabilia. I have been collecting Lucy things for almost 12 years now. There is a large amount of Lucy merchandise available, but I am very picky about what I buy. So, although I own a ton of items in my collection, if I weren't as selective, I'd probably have two or three times the amount of items that I do. My favorite item in my collection is the "Job Switching" Mattel doll, which was the first piece in my collection.

As for coins, I do still have my coin collection somewhere. Like I said, in childhood, I was into foreign coins. As a teenager/adult, the only coins that have been added to my collection are American history-type coins. I collect the US President gold dollar series, the US state series, and I have special time period coins like buffalo nickels, 1943 steel pennies, and wheat pennies. However, I am not a coin collector or coin expert by any means.

I don't collect coins, but I collect cat themed stuff. Books on cats, stuffed animals, figurines, ornaments, jewelry, cushions, anything cat-related.

Yeah, Itend to collect books on my various interests. In my childhood, I collected Golden Nature Guide books. I collect books on birds, Reptiles, Dinosaurs, Shells, UFOs & the Paranormal.

Sincerely,
Matthew
PS. I lost a lot of my treasures to moving too, especially when my parents divorced.
