Hi. Today I got a Nintendo Wii! In case you don't know what the Wii is... Anyway, what do you think of your Wii? I'm sure I am not the only person here that got a Wii today. Do you like it? It is everything you had hoped it would be? Is it fun to use?

Wii Sports: A cute game where you can chose to play various sports (using your "Mii") such as Tennis and Baseball using the Wiimote as a tennis racket, golf club, etc. You can also check your Wii Fitness Level by playing the games and obtaining a Wii Fitness Age score, where your brain, fitness, and stamina are put to the test (format is similar to Brain Age). Just played some Wii Boxing and I am a bit winded!

Rayman Raving Rabbits: I have tried a bit of this game. You play various fun and goofy minigames such as tossing a cow by twirling the Wiimote above your head, or moving the nunchuk and Wiimote in time to a song. It's a very funny game and fun to watch others play.

Monkey Ball Banana Blitz: I still need to get used to using the Wiimote to move the monkey in the ball... but other than that it seems fairly intuitive and fun to play. Honestly I could see myself using the Classic Controller to play this game, but we shall see. Lots of party games!

Red Steel: Haven't played this very much beyond the first level but... the controls are enjoyable and easy to use for me (an FPS noob). I still get some dizziness though, which is what puts me off of FPS games. This game crashed on me once already.

Zelda Twighlight Princess: So much for pre-ordering this in August! I don't get my copy until next week... :-(.

What I am disapointed about is I don't have the game I was most looking forward to (Zelda). Also I couldn't get a hold of some extra Wiimotes, classic controllers, nunchuks, and a component cable for the HDTV (ordered from the Nintendo web page and I have to wait about a week).

Can anyone tell me what Wario Ware is like? I enjoyed Wario Ware on the Gamecube. Could I like this one too? Discuss the Wii, please!

Sadly, I couldn't get one because 1.) I don't have sufficient funds, and 2.) they were all sold out by the time I went to the mall.

I'll probably get one by christmas, though, depending on availability. :D

So will the ps3 cost all my future unborn children?

Or are rumours of the pricetag greatly exagerated?

Unlike other companies Nintendo will replace it for free. So return it for a new one...

Faulty units are to be expected in anything. You were just unlucky. Doesn't mean they are all faulty.

All my friends own Wii's. Wii sports is quite fun against other people. I'm sure Zelda's good, but I'm not much of a Zelda fan at all. Personally, on my Wii (once I get one) I imagine I'll just be making tons and tons of Miis. How fun. :D

Why send the thing in? They'll just another bad unit. I just gave the piece of crap to a bunch of rabid PS3 fanboys. The results were... pleasing to say the least.

$600 in the US though supply is limited. I saw one on ebay for $1000 and the guy said
if it gets to $2000 he will provide free shipping.

since you do have a wii I have a few questions. HOw do the controllers work?? any specific problems at all with the system or controller(other than just buggy) ??? (just curious) I REALLY want to know before i get 1

Personally, I like it and haven't encountered any problems except one crash of Red Steel, and one level of Rayman Raving Rabbits which I could not complete because of some bug with the sound coming out of the Wiimote. Hopefully it gets fixed by a patch.

The way the controller works depends on the game. Sometimes you use the WiiMote to aim, pressing the B button to shoot. Flicking the nunchuk reloads your ammo. Holding the Wiimote like a golf club and swinging it to golf in WiiSports golf game. Or moving the WiiMote and nunchuk one after the other to make your character run.

My complaint is the Wii tries to connect to the internet practically every two minutes when its idle. Is that really necessary? Check for updates once every hour or something, but every two minutes? Annoying. I wonder if I could change some setting... Also, I think the games in the Virtual shop are a bit too expensive. 20 Wiipoints doesn't go very far.
