So Tony Attwood said somewhere that he would recommend LA Noire to Aspies since it would help them learn facial expressions.

I get 66% of the questions wrong because I can't recognize them, and the guides are written for neurotypicals. Does anyone else play this game, and if so, do they have any tips for Aspies?

Ok,

to be clear, LA noire is a game in which you're a PI (or cop, not sure) solving crimes.
It uses some top notch face recognition technology, in which the suspect reacts to the questions you make, and you have to read the expressions (did he feel fear from your accusations? Surprise? you get the idea).

It's fortunate because it's on 75% sale on steam until tomorrow. Complete game for $5 or so:

Pax.

I have this problem, too so I rely on rather overt body language being exerted by the person I'm interrogating, as well as intuition points. Also, apparently in the game a suspect is most-likely lying if they start shouting or get offensive when asked a question.

Weird that I did quite well at most of them.
Though most times I went purely on logic rather than expression. Then after concluding that I look for the obvious things such as eye contact and tone of voice before considering it may have been the truth.

First, find all the clues and it will be much easier. A lot of times you can figure out if someone is lying simply because the story doesn't corroborate with the evidence. Pay attention to whether they describe their story using lots of detail that would be hard to make up on the spot. The words and how they are put together matter more than facial expressions. Some people lie by trying to make a lot of eye contact, others avoid it or have a slight smile or nervous tic. If you ask question you already know the answer to first, you can figure out what they look like when they tell a lie or the truth.

I don't know that NTs would be much better at this than Aspies. Ultimately it is about paying attention to detail, thinking about things rationally, and seeing patterns. You have as much time as you need, unlike real life. It's a fun game, anti-climatic though.
