Hey! You all may remember me from momma needs some advice. I am now writting to see if anyone besides Brady (my 5 year old son) is into gameshows. My little dude loves Wheel of Fortune. He watches it every day and we tape it so he can watch it over and over again. He also has the computer game and plays that constantly. He has a dry erase board and he usually makes up games and writes them out himself. Another thing he does is write. Brady has filled up like 20 notebooks just full of puzzles. He will write things such as Wheel of Fortune, Showbiz, On the Map, RSTLNE, Lose a Turn, etc. It is so cool to read all these funny sayings while I clean up his room after he goes to bed each night. He also writes down what I believe to be puzzles for instance, Boys and Girls Club of America or Seabiscut!! Brady loves Wheel of Fortune the most but he watches all gameshows. He generally watches Gameshow Network and knows all the shows, even old black and white shows I've never heard of ( I am only in my mid twenties) He has been watching Gameshow Network since he was two. Brady also writes down all different things not having to do with Gameshows such as TV stations. Websites, Titles of Movies, etc. I think that it is so cool that Brady has this passion. He also seems to be really smart, and/or have a photographic memory because he writes things down after seeing them not while he is looking at them and I don't think most 5 year old know how to read or write "Channel 8 Eyewitness News" or "WGN Superstation" Sorry to ramble but I find my little bub so fasinating and thought maybe someone at Wrongplanet might have some insight as to what is going on in that brilliant little head of his. Thanx

Game shows? Oh GOD yes! The Joker's Wild got me started when I was about 2. Jack Barry taught me how to count...by the hundreds, but still, he did teach me.

I've always loved word games. Password, Scrabble, Chain Reaction, Go, and especially Pyramid. I'm not as much into Wheel, though.

Here's a theory: the sounds, colors and patterns of the lights are what attracted me to game shows. I've got a feeling that's what got Brady hooked, and as he gets older he'll come to understand the shows more and will be better able to appreciate what's going on. Soon he'll be watching for different reasons. Not a bad thing, IMO.

I was actually a contestant on Jeopardy (officially "JEOPARDY!") in 1994. Scariest half hour of my life. I spent about $1500.00 to fly to Los Angeles and stay there for taping. I won about $1500.00 in "parting gifts" which were taxable. That was the only practical use for my obsession with trivia that I have ever found.

Strangely enough, I really cannot stand to watch the show on TV.

Some of my earliest memories of watching TV was that of the Jokers Wild in the early 80's where they that segement near the end of the show where the people in the audience would get a chance to face the devil.

Other early memories include watching The Price is Right, The $25,000 Pyramid, Family Feud, Super Password, Scrabble, Press Your Luck, Tic tac Dough, Wheel of Fortune.

In August of 1995, I discovered the game show network and it qucikly became my favorite channel. However today, that channel went down the dumper when they started producing original programming.

I grew up on a steady diet of game shows from a very early age. My parents would force me to go outside and play or else I would sit in front of the TV all day (at least until the soaps came on). During high school it was one of my rituals to go watch Wheel of Fortune every day during the lunch break.

I'm with you, Jetson, I was a game show-a-holic - though I never called them game shows. To me, they were number shows, and I was watching younger than Brady. I remember how I picked up on Gene Rayburn on Match Game saying "that's the definitive answer" back when I was 6 or so, and my grandma thinking it was definite & I wouldn't have picked up such a big word, but I had! :-) I remember drawing on my chilkboard in the morning consistently with imaginary namber shows going on in my head and number totals going upward as the contestant stick figures won more and more and got more and more answers right. A number of college notebooks I colored in are also filled with these.

I loved soaking up all the information, the lights and patterns, and so many other things. Hollywood Squares, Match GAme, Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune, $10/20/25,000 Pyramid, Password, Family Feud, and numerous others were all my favorites.

I'm not much into them anymore, but did enjoy seeing Price Is Right a while back jsut for fun. My grandparents and mom always said I should try to get on one, but I was never into the competition, and I don't think I would have done as well in all the lights and such. But, I loved playing them at home.

I was quite a game show fanatic back in my elementary school years-- this was when The Family Channel, USA, and various other cable channels had several-hour-long blocks of game shows, so that definitely helped things. :)

I'm not as obsessive as I was back then, but I still watch Jeopardy on a regular basis and occasionally tune in for Millionaire.

TPiR! I saw the road show in Atlantic City this summer. Truly an awesome event. I can only imagine what Television City is like.

Have they already taped the show you're on or are you on your way to LA to see it?

I am going to LA to see TPIR on the March 28th taping. I really look forward to it and I hope to maybe becoming an contestant.
