I almost always keep all doors and windows shut, even when it's summer and hot as hell. I just don't like it when I'm in a room that has the door open, even when I'm totally alone in the house. The reason for closing all windows is similar, but even more important because it helps to block out noise which I'm very sensitive to.

Do you hate open doors and windows?

I only like doors shut if I'm in my room trying to read or write something and there are TVs murmuring and people chattering in other rooms, otherwise it doesn't bother me. And with windows, I don't mind whether they're open or not - as long as the door stays either shut on or wide open - it's really annoying when people just leave the door a little bit open because then the drought from the open window makes the door keep banging and it is a sound that cannot be ignored by me. Also I worry a bit about having the window open in my bedroom because spiders can get in easier, and I HATE spiders. Plus I've got so much clutter in my room (I'm a borderline hoarder), it's no wonder spiders are so attracted to my room.

I'm like you. My windows are always closed with closed curtains as well and that is why I had AC installed some years ago. There are a few occasions when my front and back doors are opened when the weather is pretty cool outside. And than I always make sure my screen doors are locked. But the only noise that really cause me to go into sensory overload and cause me anxiety is low frequencies from drums and guitars especially. I am so thankful that this band from across the street is now gone. A higher force must have been looking over me, since the police and the counsel meetings weren't helping. Otherwise I can tolerate other noises pretty good, even the trains that are very close to me.

If I had close neighbors or loud sounds close by I would shut everything and close the curtains.I have doors and windows shut during the heat of the day,it's been 104 here so I have the AC on.Once a neighbor about a 1/4 of a mile from me had a visitor who was playing the drums.Badly.All day.I had to stay indoors that day.Mostly what I hear out my windows is birdsong and wind and I see birds and a doe deer with her fawn, frogs and dragonflies in the lily pond and it's wonderful. It gets me thru the day.

I'm the same way. I prefer to have everything closed and locked as well as having dark curtains over the windows. In addition to blocking out undesired sounds, it also instills a sense of privacy when all the portals to your dwelling are closed and secured.

For me it really depends on what kind of distractions are around. And it isn't clear cut at all. Just now trees are being cut in the woods nearby and I'm fine with my window open, but some other kind of noise might really get to me. Yesterday we had guests and I had to close the door to my room to block out their chatter, but when I was living in a shared student apartment I used to keep the door cracked open so I could hear when the others left the shared kitchen. Mostly hearing them talking didn't bother me. So I can swing either way depending on the situation.

Windows are always closed because parents won't let them open. I'm not particularly fond of them being open but I put up with them if I have to.

I demand that my room's door stays shut at all times, but other doors I really don't care about.

I only close the door from my room when there are other people in the house and I need some privacy. Otherwise, if I'm alone, the doors need to be open, else I'll get very anxious and lacking control over what happens in my house. If I'm alone, the door is closed and I hear some noise coming from somewhere, I can never be sure if anybody broke into my house or not. It's an irrational fear, but I've had it since I was a child...

Windows are always open, else I feel I don't have enough air to breathe. I live at the 10th floor of a block of flats and my room is not facing the crowded street, but rather a quiet alley. It's pretty quiet. I don't know how I would handle the situation if more noise came from my surroundings, but since I listen to rather loud music all the time, it'd probably get blocked by the wall of sound in my room.

My doors and windows have to be shut at all time. I also have my blinds closed as early in the evening as possible. I feel protected from the teens and young adults in my area when I do that.

i like having my door shut. except certain times i keep it open so me doggie can come into my room if he wants to.

but when a door is shut and someone comes in, then leave the room, they have to shut the door. or if it's open, and they come in, then leave...they have to leave it open. same with closet doors and lights. i get upset if that rule isn't followed.

Yep, pretty much. It gives me a sense of privacy and security when all windows and doors are closed. Plus it blocks out the wind, flies, humidity and noise.

I had to make a kitty entrance in the door to my room. Prior to that, as soon as I closed the door, the cats would be right there, meowing incessantly until you opened it, then they'd trot away. :?

I always keep my room's doors shut and locked. If I'm in a room, and the door can lock, it will be closed and locked. It's always annoyed my mother, but I'm not sure why.

When I work or eat, I have to face the door. (If two doors, the nearest.) I was attacked a lot in the military and, 40 years later, keep my eyes peeled. Luckily, fresh air from windows is welcome for me.

I don't particularly mind if the doors or windows are opened or closed to be honest with you.
