I was tempted to start this post with "Hello, my name is Marc and I'm an alcoholic" and follow up with "Opps wrong board" but I figured it might come back to haunt me, or someone might not get that it was supposed to be a joke. I've just recently been diagnosed with Aspergers. I'm pretty high functioning since it took 42 years to find it out. I'm still coming to grips with what it means. I always just figured I was a nerd and left it at that.
I guess I should go with my interest. I'm a fan of science fiction and fantasy, Tolkien, Babylon 5, Star Trek, Terry Pratchett, etc. I also like comics books, my Favorite hero being Spider-Man (though not so much since Brand New Day) and an Independent comic called Gold Digger. I''m a fan of Anime, my favorites being Slayers and Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, I also like to draw in a Anime style. I play role playing games, including Champions until most of my gaming group moved away from Tulsa.

I think that's enough for now. :)

Hey Kitsunekun. I have a question. I am a great fan of Star Trek, the old school one with Kirk, etc. I understand it well. Spock, the Romulans, empaths, T'Pau. T'Pring, Vulcans...I get them. I also understand Blade Runner and Serenity. After that, unfortunately, I'm lost. I've tried to get into Dr. Who, Battlestar Galactica and Stargate, but I just get lost and move on. Why is that? I don't think I'm slow as molasses. Sometimes it seems the ones I don't get are asking people to accept a story and its characters and to already know the background from a book.

Or maybe I'd just better accept I am as slow as molasses.

Doctor Who is something of an acquired taste. It has a level of camp to it that not everyone can get into. There's also an element of nostalgia. I watched the original series back in the 80 when the role was Tom Baker. I haven't really watched the New Galactica or Stargate. I think it's generally best to watch a show from the first episode, sometimes books don't really help you get the feel. It's a bit like the old Billy Joel lyric "There's a new band in town, but you can't get the sound from a story in a magazine"

I actually had a Doctor Who dream a few nights ago. I was in the Tardis and somehow these people kept getting into the control room and harasing the Doctor and me, I think they were Jahova's Witnesses or something. So I suggested that the doctor rearrange the Tardis so that the first room you enter is a replica of the inside of a real police box with a hidden door at the back. I think the doctor said "Brilliant" and that was the end of the dream.

You're right. It must be an acquired taste because I don't know what a Tardis is.

AspieOtaku! Metaljordy! We've got another new recruit!

That said, welcome, I'm Roxas, Lt. Commander of the 1337th Otaku Battalion. Nice to meet you and you have great taste in anime, GITS: SAC is one of my personal favorites. Perhaps you wouldn't mind showing us some of your art?

Also have you heard of an anime called Fairy Tail? Just started watching it, it's actually pretty good. It's set in this world that's kind of like an RPG world, there are mages everywhere and they're all part of different magic guilds, the main character is a young summoner who wants to join the infamous mage guild Fairy Tail, she gets her wish when she meets a Fairy Tail member named Natsu, he's a fire mage who was both raised by and trained in magic arts by a dragon.

Welcome to WP. I was also diagnosed recently at 36 and am also a sci-fi/fantasy fan. Being here will surely help you process the diagnosis and feel less alone in it all!
