...do you take more pictures of people or things/places? I always seem to take pics of scenery, landscape, nature and almost none of the people I am with. My mother once pointed this out to me when I came home from vacation with pictures of nothing but the ocean, the beach, plants and volcanos and none of either me or my travel companion. I figured, 'I can see HER any time. But I may never be in Hawaii again."

Years ago, I tended to take more pictures of the scenery and of the people I met in there. But one day it dawned on me that I had only a handful of pictures of myself during highschool. It was a happy time of my life and it would have been nice to have like a reminder of the way I looked back then, of the way my life looked like back then, of the way the people who played a major part in the events looked like. Since then, I've taken pictures as mementos, as snapshots of a precise moment in time, as lasting impressions of fleeting moments. As such, I am interested in taking pictures of myself and of the people around me (and also of the significant scenery).

The friend I see everyday will look different in 5 or 10 years' time or we may go our separate ways and never see him/her again. I will also look different in a few years' time and it's nice to see how I evolve as a person.

I take pictures of things, places and scenery...and events that I'm attending. For example, on a day out to places like major parks and touristic areas, I never take them of myself but only of the views, the landscape and animals (nature). Pictures of myself are usually taken by others.

This is an interesting topic. A few years ago I realised that I only take photo's of scenery & that type of stuff, and not of the person/people I'm with, when I occasionally go for a day-out somewhere, like London, for example.

Then when I see other people's photo's of their similar days out, the penny drops, so to speak, & I wonder why I didn't think of doing that.

I've had comments about my photos not containing any people, and more recently the fact that there are never any photos of me. Most of my photos are of items other than people, and those that do contain people are usually "candid" (instead of posed) shots.

I would feel uncomfortable pointing the camera at myself, and on occasion, I will "move out of the way" if a camera is pointed in my general direction - it's not that I don't like having my photo taken, sometimes I think I don't need to be part of the picture.

Most of the photos I take are of scenery and such; the one exception would be at family get-togethers, naturally. I try to avoid the camera as much as possible, so I have only a few non-webcam photos of myself from the last few years.

Yeah, I generally prefer still life. I used to take photos of Twin Oaks (intentional community), all the objects and never the people. Not the usual approach! Sue me, I'm here for the health benefits, rent control & job stability; the people come and go and I don't much notice. Most people are holograms. I'm autistic. Rent gets paid, where's the problem?

Same here. I never really take pictures of people, except people in costumes at conventions because of the cool costumes they're wearing.

I try taking pictures of myself but I look awful so I don't bother anymore xD

I always take pictures of my dog, and objects/surroundings.

I take lots of pictures of my snails, and when I'm out with my camera, of floral and scenery and such, rarely of people, since they gross me out, hah.

I almost never take pictures of people - looking through my phone's gallery, it's mostly just places, objects, scenery, and animals. The only pictures of people are pictures that just happen to have people - like my view from on stage at most venues I've played at.

The other main contributor to photos/movies of people, is just me taking pictures or movies of people playing music (a special interest of mine - my main one, which I've had for 14 years running) - mainly it's just the pictures and movies I took at the recording studio earlier this summer, when one of my bands was recording part of an album. It was a really awesome day - I got to play both a theremin (a Moog etherwave) and a waterphone, two of the most important instruments on my 'instruments to play before I die' list.

I have probably taken thousands of digital photos in my lifetime, but could probably count on my fingers the number of them that have had people in them. It's mostly technical subjects for forum postings or for assembly instructions for a project. I also dislike being in pictures myself but will allow others to do so if it makes them happy. Likewise, I have PLENTY of landscapes I have taken over the years and try my best to not have people in them. Oddly, I thought this was just a personal quirk until I discovered Asperger's a few months ago.

I only take photos of humans if they're part of the scenery. Otherwise, for me they ruin the atmosphere of the photo. Including myself. I find it very weird that when I'm back from a trip and show the photos, people complain I'm not in any of them. What do they want to see? Me in a remote land? What for?

I went camping a couple of days ago with my boyfriend out to the mountains. The place is one of my favorites but it was lousy with mosquitoes, such a shame, sent us packing two days early. Anyway, Just like last year and the year before, I took pictures. Of all the same crap I took pictures of the last time I was there, only this time I got one shot with a person in it, my boyfriend, only because he wanted a picture to show off his new home-built utility trailer/camp kitchen, the only other picture he is in is only due to him moving his shoulder into frame when I snapped the picture.

The rest are pics of my dog, my cats (yes we take them camping too), the mountains, clouds, the lake, tree's, campfire.. the mountains, clouds, tree's sunrise/sunset reflecting off the lake in a bunch of pictures at different times of the day....

No People.

We went up there to camp with a couple that the boyfriend works with, no pictures of them...

Here's a few, I'm sure you've all seen pretty pictures before.... Anyway, these were taken with my cell phone.

Yorkie in Silhouette (If you look carefully at his neck you can see a mosquito chewing on him)
Image

Lake and Mountains at Sunset (It had just stormed and the lake was full of poplar fuzz)
Image

Clouds below, in front and above. Taken on the drive out, I stopped and got out to take this picture, no lazy through-the-windshield shot. Out in the middle of nowhere. Deep in bear country. Unarmed.
Image

Here is the camp, that's what I drive into the bush, while towing a trailer, with a small boat. The van has been camperized, it's fully loaded, queen size bed, HDTV, Internet, hot-water-on-demand, etc. We sleep in the van and hide from the mosquitoes in the trailer-tent-kitchen. Happy Camper boyfriend. Only pic I have with a human in it from this last trip.
Image

Most of my photobucket is stuff, funny things I found on the innarwebs, scenery and things (stuff and things are different, honest) very few people. The people that I do have pictures of, are very close relatives and there are few of those. I have close to a terabyte of just pictures I've taken, all stuff, things, scenery and animals.

I always need a better camera but I never seem to be able to afford one.

Almost entirely objects and scenery. I'll try to catch a few of my partner in them. And sometimes there will be pics of people as objects and scenery. Like the woman with the fascinating hair color in the airport once. Technically a person, but I wasn't relating to her that when I took her picture.

Martha, you're obviously NT. We aspies have a life of suffering and do NOT get to enjoy such beauty and have lots of fun.

(I'm teasing, of course)
