I aspire to one day be an author. Right now I have a few stories that I'm working on, but I'll always take up a short story to practice my writing. Actually now I'm working (mostly) other projects but thats not important. Now this probably isn't a new idea I just figured if someone had already done it, it would have been stickied. Has anyone on this forum ever written a story, or short story about a somewhat futuristic society akin to the one described on http://www.aspergia.com/index.htm ? Basically a society that is everything that would be if people who had aspergers had gotten together on an island under the funding of a rich aspie and formed their own society? I'm sure I'm not the first to think of it but if it hadn't been done before its a project I would be very happy to start...

That sounds like a pretty interesting idea :) I haven't heard of any published story with that particular plot, but I'm not very familiar with the sci-fi or fantasy genre, so I couldn't really say. Don't be too discouraged though if someone has already done it-you want to be extremely careful of course not to make your own story too similar, but, as one of my favourite authors once pointed out, there probably aren't too many stories that haven't already been told; what makes stories unique is how they are told. Good luck with your writing.

Well, I wrote a musical piece as a hail to everyone with AS as well as every mistrated, misunderstood individual and everyone who are victim to injustice.

I named it "Anthem to the ravaged"

Go for it!

I'm not working on anything right now due to school commitments but a lot of my stuff is inspired by AS. One of the ones I will pick up on later is a parallel history type thing - same until CAN is established Basically, its all about life with CAN getting its way, all Spectrum great's contrubitions are eradacitied. I need a title though.

That sounds like a good novel. You should definitely write it!

Very interesting idea. It would make an interesting collection of short stories.

Possibly, you could get together a bunch of people and have them write to the same idea - of what would happen in an entirely Aspergian society.

I don't write sci-fi and I have no interest of getting published (I write more as a hobby than much else) but I have some thoughts from my life:
In the summers of 2004, 2005, and 2006, I went to a camp - Camp Kindred - specifically for kids with ASDs. Mostly Aspies, but a couple people with more classical autism as well. I remember that in the 2005 session, we had social groups and heiarchies (I know it's spelled wrong) whose complexity rivaled what existed in my public NT school.
We even went so far as to create a 10-point scale for reputation.
There were prople who came from terrible social "lives" at their former school only to be placed in worse social situations at an a camp of ASD people. A strange irony, isn't it?
I figure that because we were bullied so much in our regular schools, we just wanted to have the feeling of being at the top...

So, as Utopian as it sounds, consider that an entirely Aspie society could fall apart simply due to those reasons...

I've thought of this subject, as well.. It would be interesting to see if I wrote (I doubt I will, still working on a peace proposal) a book on the same subject if we'd come out with similar stories..

I want to write romance
peace proposal and how to
theoritical books
and books on thinking
