I don't hate accoustic guitars, but I don't like them.

I like metal and acoustic guitars. Acoustic metal, well not so much, but I haven't heard a lot. Acoustic guitar for other types of music is awesome if its something not boring.

I'm torn; years of playing in church band with acoustic being flogged at every turn, yet I have my old Harmony archtop in "Sabbath" tuning, for want of a decent practice amp, and not having the SG anyway kills the vibe there

Acoustic guitar to me has a unique voice and no two acoustic guitars sound the same. Have you tried Alternate Tunings on acoustic Guitar. They sound so much better to me on Acoustic than electric. I love my acoustic guitars!
