I'm wondering if these things could be connected to Asperger's

I suspect the 'when others are around' portion to be favoured. I, personally, have difficulty and have attributed it to 1 thing:
Mental state of mind - anxiety
caused by
Feeling of vulnerability during such an act.

Interesting question and one I was going to ask at some point

I would say more often.

I used to wake up several times a night and not be able to go to sleep again for several hours. I started taking medication to help me with sleep (Trazodone) and now I don't wake up anymore. If I do, it is because I drank a lot right before I go to sleep - something I avoid.

When I go to the bathroom I don't urinate right away like other people do, it takes a few second for me to urinate and sometimes I have troubles going but standing up and sitting back down helps. I also get a strong urge to pee but when I go, the flow is only light. I don't think this is connected to my AS because it's been going on for a few years and I don't have a uninary tract infection. I've been tested for it and it was negative. Is this normal, when I drink lot of water, I have to go every ten minutes or so, is that normal? I do know water makes you go more but every 5-10 minutes?

I had an infection years ago. When it cleared, I still felt the urge - it was a mental thing at that point.

To me, 5-10 minutes seems a lot. Maybe 10 minutes isnt so bad, pending on how much water you drank or how cold it is (I find cooler temps makes you pee more)

I seem to have to pee more often than everyone else... whenever I attend a show or meeting, I always pee both before and after the event. Whenever I drive places more than an hour away I have to stop and take a pee break, whereas most people don't. I do think I drink more water than most people... when I am on the computer or working I always have a glass of water nearby and drink approx 2-3 liters a day, but these days everyone seems to drink alot of water and I still am peeing more than most folks. It is especially a problem when travelling on a bus or airplane with seatbelt sign. I can hold it but it seems to take a lot of effort and tires me out.

I feel that it may be from the part of our brains that makes multitasking difficult... NTs may be able to tighten the sphincter to "hold it in" while doing other things, but for me as an Aspie the process of "holding it in" may not be as automatic as for other people, requiring some attention from my "logical" brain. So whatever I'm wanting to focus on, the effort of "holding it in" gets in the way and I want to take a pee so I can focus on whatever I want to focus on again.

I also find that I have a hard time peeing when other people are in the room. The absolute worst is when someone is talking to me while I'm trying to pee... then it's basically impossible. Again I look at it as a multitasking issue... I think that the stress of having a conversation or being in relation to other people overwhelms my ability to relax the sphincter to let it out.

I have not heard anything suggesting a connection between bladder control and AS.

However, it is slightly difficult if I am using a urinal at a major sporting event or at a movie theater, but I don't really consider that unusual.

It seems like I am always peeing.Very annoying but healthy.Clearing the bladder more often helps avoiding bladder infections.I often have to wake up several time a night to urinate but usually it is proceeded with several "peeing related" dreams. After dreaming that I am looking for a bathroom about 5 times...my conscious mind gets the message and wakes me up to pee...

Have you been tested for diabetes? Because that can make you pee frequently. Or a light urine flow could be kidneys. Anyway I think you should ask the doctor again.

I feel kind of weird talking about pee in a general forum....but I've had issues I've been to the Mayo clinic for and stuff.

Me too - my parents always had to bring extra water everywhere for me because I drink A LOT and hate soda. Maybe that has something to do with it... Do Aspies drink more than others?

Haha, I love water, I prefer that over anything, but I don't drink that much.

I was always a big water drinker as a kid, loved the hell out of it and still do. People like my stepdad say that it has no taste, but it does.

Every few months I'd go through a small phase where I'll have to go real often. Now I tend to wake up 3 times every night to go...and still have to piss like a racehorse when I wake up in the morning to go to work.

I drink a lot of water because I often feel thristy; hence, I pee a lot.
