I sleep with a fan and I have a tough time sleeping when I can't use a fan.

I also sleep with a fan all the time. I find it's great for drowning out all the random background noises by just providing a steady, constant hum

Nope, but if I had one, I most definitely would.

...only when the weather is too hot however.

I do in the summer. For some reason, I can't sleep without two comforters, no matter how tired I am. It gets hot, so I have the fan tunred on, or otherwise I wake up in sweat a lot (gross).

I sleep with a fan on every single night. I've had a few fans over time. The cheap ones seem to stop working after 5 or 6 months when you leave them on for extended periods. I've had a $70 honeywell one for 9+ years and it still works. I've left it on all night all along. It's great. I'd go crazy without it.

In the summer I have a fan in my window no matter what. In colder seasons, I use speedfan to set all of the fans on my computer to 100%, to drown out the noise.

i use a HEPA filter which is a good white noise generator. sometimes i also use a vornado fan not strictly for its extra noise but to keep me cool at night when i have a tendency to sweat.

I use a fan most of the year, except in the winter because I live in a basement and it gets quite cold. I like to have a nice big comforter and I only like flannel sheets, so I need a fan to keep me cool spring-fall. I like that it drowns out noise, as long as it doesn't make any noises outside of the standard hum/buzz, like when it is set to turn and it makes clicking noises every now and then. I like any repetitive or even noise to help me sleep, but I wake up if it makes a slightly different noise.

I don't. I don't like the air blowing on me constantly. It annoys me and makes my eyes feel dried out. I do like having an air conditioner on in the summer but I can't have one in my room because I have awning windows.

In a way I don't like the white noise from air conditioners or fans. It may block out noises that make me anxious but then I might worry that I can't hear important warning noises over the white noise. I probably wouldn't have heard the person breaking in next door if the air conditioner had been on.

I do, but I don't let it blow on me. The air buffeting would annoy me so I just face it into the shower in my bathroom. It does the job of drowning out the noises outside, like the neighbor's dogs and doesn't annoy me. As far as it goes, I too sleep with a comforter all year long and I keep my A/C turned down while I sleep to compensate. I also have most of my house blocked off from the A/C system with curtains to keep my power bill low.

Always. It's a bedtime requirement, or I can't fall asleep.

I sleep on a top bunk so a fan wouldn't work for me.
I fall asleep REALLY fast listening to music from my phone.
My ears are really sensitive so crickets and cars and snoring will make me bury my head in my pillow, and if I'm really tired and its really late drive me to tears because I want to sleep but cant.
Crickets on their own are fine but combined with any other noise they irritate me.

I live in the middle of nowhere its actually annoying to have one on but I do have fish tanks with the waterfall type aerators that are good white noise.
