This is probably going to be one of the more optimistic posts in The Haven because I am just seeking out information.

My self-esteem ranges from feeling I can handle nearly anything to extreme caution that usually leads to being too slow to react to get what I intend on doing right correctly. I am curious if anyone here can relate to this.

What causes self-esteem fluctuations and how exactly does one find a healthy balance where you just become confidence after getting a strong sense of accomplishment? Does it require constant preogression to get to a new level of abilities?

it is normal for self-esteem to fluctuate. that said, going from near omnipotence to paralysis brings to mind the diagnosis of bipolar.

You have bipolar.

My father had it, my brother has it. I don't have it, everyone just assumes I do. But they fail to realize that depressed people are capable of getting angry, oft mistaking the anger for manic behavior. But what you described is clearly indicative of bi-polar mood swings.

Of course, I'm no shrink. Hence, you may want a professional opinion.

Yeah, to me what you're talking about sounds like Bipolar. Neverhtheless, it's a good topic. Self esteem realy does tend to fluctuate for me. Sometime I feel great other times I feel not so great. I guess that's normal, but sometimes that difference prevents me from seeing the light of day

My self-esteem fluctuates by what stage I'm going through at my life and what kind of friends I have and if I have a job, etc. I think a sign of rapidly changing self-esteem can be a sign of a type of bipolar but I'm not completely sure. I know fluctuating self-esteem is pretty normal by what's going on in your life though and it can have a lot to do with social aspects and accomplishments and career.
