What are peoples thoughts on an entirely autistic/aspie run govenment. This is of course entirely hypothetical as the prospect of one just happening are very unlikely especaily all govenments.

Hmm... here's my best +/- of Aspie-run government:

+ Most people with Asperger's have a strong moral compass, so they will do what they think is best for the people, even at their own expense. The government can "turn around" much more easily.
+ Most people with Asperger's have much greater tolerance for differences, having lived their whole lives "different" from most people. Those outside the "norm" will not be thrown under the bus unless they are actually harming society.
+ People with Asperger's generally have more brainpower in coming up with fair policies, the technical aspects of government, or both.
+ There would be much, MUCH less lying by the "politicians" to the people.
- Wording policies and "selling" them to the people in ways they can understand is difficult for people with Asperger's. A policy may be brilliant, but extremely unpopular since most people aren't smart enough to figure out the reasoning behind it on their own.
- Impaired executive function can mean some problems get ignored for long periods of time since they obsess on just a few.
- People with Asperger's may be biased towards policies favoring those on the spectrum over neurotypicals, possibly resulting in a society where neurotypicals have as many "problems" as Aspies do in a world made for NT's.

putting only one group in charge is pretty much always a bad idea, as far as I'm concerned. decentralized power and decentralized economic infrastructure are the only way to prevent hegemony and eventual exploitation.

I do rather like the classical Chinese idea of having to pass an examination before being qualified to hold an office, though, which would probably put more aspies in the political class, proportionally speaking, than there are now.

It would be a bad idea because of how strongly we feel about our special interests. If I was a politician, I wanted people to work and not live off welfare, I'd steer government towards abolishing the system. That would lead to a lot more people committing crimes to get by. Grandma and grandpa wouldn't be safe walking down the streets anymore. Yes, I'd avoid austerity measures, but at what price?

Sometimes I think it would be nice if juries were limited to people with Asperger's.

Take the recent Apple-Samsung trial, for instance.

The jury was faced with answering approximately 700 questions on the jury form. As I undrstand it, they spent the first day of deliberation discussing one question. So they simplified it and ignored the law and made up what they needed and finished the entire 700 questions in something like 21 hours total. There is no way that anyone could make a proper decision on those questions that fast. If the verdict stands, I will have lost an enormous amount of faith in the court system.

Think about what would happen with an Asperger's jury. It might take a while, possibly months, but we would know that they seriously considered all aspects of every question and we could have a lot more faith in their decision.

Rocket launchers and illicit drugs in your corner store!

-Live and let live; freedom for all
-Personal responsibility for self-protection and survival is encouraged
-Usual institutions are all there (especially there to help those who have trouble with survival, i.e., the mentally and psychically ill)
-Military is every able person in a time of need (defense against invasion); small expert professional military on hand to keep the knowledge there
-Police are there to help those who can't help themselves, but they aren't any more important than anyone else in regards to privileges
-Free market
-Jobs for everyone; nearly everyone will be able to do something and we'll find you a place
-Free education
-Free health care
-No restrictions on items and substances

It'd work just the same as anywhere else, but it'd be more fun. Sure, you might have a moron blow themselves up when trying to remove a stump by buying some dynamite from the local store, now and again, but eh, no loss there.

I'm sure there's some despotic "aspies" and "auties" out there who'll disagree with my idea of government, but blah to them I say. Blah!

That really depends on the aspies in question. We're all pretty different - and although I do think we tend to be less dishonest and greedy than NTs on average, which would be a plus, we're just as prone to being stubborn and biased if not more.

Anyway, unlikely to happen since politics is basically show-biz.

Well we see what the world is like with all NT's. I don;t ever remember hearing or seeing an aspie in that kind of power.

I only voted "no" because despite the benefits of AS, and the myriad of good qualities they bring - the truth of the matter is it still needs diversity. Sort of like women, we need more women in positions of power and influence, but i would not want to work in a field that's all female.

However YES I without a doubt would LOVE to see many more Aspies/ASD people in government jobs. Maybe then, we could be less corrupt.

a big reason we need [impartial] rulers is that some people refuse to be content minding their own business and instead mind other [weaker] people's business [IOW victimize weaklings] no matter what they want. only a ruler can deter such.
